Quick Question About Connecting to the Internet

I'm trying to connect my imac to a FIOS digital cable box. I plugged it in via an ethernet cable but I don't know what I'm supposed to do next...

Do I need to know my IP Address? Because I'm pretty bad with this kind of thing, I don't even know what it is or where I would find out what it is...

Any advice? I don't feel like paying 49 bucks for mac support over something so simple.

Thanks

If you need your IP address, try http://whatsmyip.org/

But the computer I'm on right now isn't the one I need the IP address for...

Can I still look up the IP for my iMac?
