Bad Lieutenant -- the kinda-sorta remake

Wow, that's really weird. I'd see it, though.

I was a huge Ferrara fan for a long stretch there, though I've missed almost all of his last several straight-to-DVD movies (if EVEN "-to-DVD"): "'R Xmas," "Go-Go Tales," "New Rose Hotel," "Mary," and I'm pretty sure there's another 1 or 2 that aren't even on imdb's radar.

Wasn't there a "King of New York" prequel announced a year or so ago?

bad lieutenant is the most aptly named movie. you watch it and yr like wow what a bad lieutenant. and you also might be like wtf or something.

In the meantime, is Nicolas Cage really really really still popular in Japan or another important non-U.S. market? The National Treasure franchise is doing well, but that can't be enough to compensate from the great waves of FAIL coming off of everything else he's done in the last five or ten years.

that is funny and i am psyched for this new bad lieutenant. if anybody can pull it off, it's herzog.

i love this film. but i wanted there to be more 'wtf' moments. it seemed like a movie hinging on a pretty threadbare plot, with some standout scenes for cage to act crazy in and do weird shit. which is fine actually, but i just wanted more. more more more!

i saw a trailer for a new cage film where he plays a wizard though which makes me think all the hype/hopes around this film as his rebirth are going to go to waste.

pssh. cage is best when he's in a terrible movie.

the last fifteen minutes of the wicker man are more entertaining than a million tasteful proper movies.

(just watched the herzog/cage one, for which "crazy lieutenant" or "goofy lieutenant" would also have been appropriate; still haven't seen the original)

also I really like how many points there are throughout the movie where it's impossible to tell if someone's bullshitting or not. even with the eventual resolution of the case, it's like, how much of this was part of a 'plan' by nic cage's characterTHE BAD LIEUTENANT, and how much did he just pull out of his ass?

He is sleepwalking, like the actors in Herz Aus Glas. He solves crimes by somnambulism.

the shaving scene is one of the best scenes ever. id like to know if cage came up with that or if it was in the script.

This is an absolute masterpiece. Cage was robbed of a Best Actor Oscar.

I am hoping it spawns a series in which random directors make films with titles like "Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call [Your Town Here]".
