BY was a pretty hardcore guy, surely, engaged in forging a new nation and a new religion, both of which tend to be forged in blood not reason/sweetness etc (this is the story foax where a buncha mormon settlers in utah massacred some passing native americans, women and kids inc, despite a truce or whatever being in operation: there's a lucid version of it in SHOT IN THE HEART)
