Shasta ftw.

G00blar, Friday, 31 August 2007 17:16 (eighteen years ago)

Mr Pibb is not "fake" Dr Pepper, jerk.

nabisco, Friday, 31 August 2007 17:17 (eighteen years ago)

yes it it, assface!

chaki, Friday, 31 August 2007 17:19 (eighteen years ago)

That's like saying a Bentley is a fake Model T.

nabisco, Friday, 31 August 2007 17:20 (eighteen years ago)

jesus, pibb's not even a doctor for god's sakes!

pj, Friday, 31 August 2007 17:21 (eighteen years ago)

The common man understands refreshment. Dr Pepper is a quack, his MD's from a school in St Kitt's.

nabisco, Friday, 31 August 2007 17:23 (eighteen years ago)

btw, Dr. Whatever is really, really good.

pj, Friday, 31 August 2007 17:27 (eighteen years ago)

If you want to be so slavishly impressed by fancy titles and degrees, you should just go drink a bunch of President's Choice "Dr Smooth" cola.

nabisco, Friday, 31 August 2007 17:28 (eighteen years ago)

Pepper, MD

haha!

Ms Misery, Friday, 31 August 2007 17:28 (eighteen years ago)

thunda.

Jordan Sargent, Friday, 31 August 2007 17:31 (eighteen years ago)

WE ARE ALL MANIFESTATIONS OF THE ARCHETYPE.

YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE A PEPPER, TOO. YES YOU WOULD.

elmo argonaut, Friday, 31 August 2007 17:46 (eighteen years ago)

If it counts, it's Pibb in a walk.

Bill Magill, Friday, 31 August 2007 17:47 (eighteen years ago)

also, hey pj! is that you?

elmo argonaut, Friday, 31 August 2007 17:48 (eighteen years ago)

wait how many of these are made up?
Dr. Whatever !!!

mizzell, Friday, 31 August 2007 17:50 (eighteen years ago)

Country Doctor sounds really refreshing for some reason.

mizzell, Friday, 31 August 2007 17:51 (eighteen years ago)

OMG DR SLICE

dan m, Friday, 31 August 2007 17:51 (eighteen years ago)

During an otherwise mind-numbingly vanilla game of truth or dare back in high school, I was dared to chug a 2-liter of Dr. Perky in 60 seconds. I fulfilled my obligation. The results were gruesome.

Dr Tenured Radical

By the way, just to get all PROVEN BY SCIENCE about it, note that Dr Pepper and Mr Pibb are both bottled by Coca-Cola -- i.e., one is not an off-brand rip of the other, they are COMPLEMENTARY PRODUCTS in a single line.

So next time some buttface acts like Mr Pibb is imitation Dr Pepper, please tell him/her that and then laugh and laugh until this person cries. YOU HEAR ME, CHAKI? Your wrongness on this issue knows no bounds.

nabisco, Friday, 31 August 2007 18:03 (eighteen years ago)

DP hasn't always been bottled by Coke. Could Mr Pibb have been an attempt to mimic DP before the two became family?

Ms Misery, Friday, 31 August 2007 18:04 (eighteen years ago)

Dr. Liberal Elitist

dan m, Friday, 31 August 2007 18:06 (eighteen years ago)

Oh wait, crap, I AM WRONG: Dr Pepper is distributed in the US by Cadbury???

And yet when I was 16 and worked sorting deposit bottles in northern Michigan, we sorted Dr Pepper with the Coke returns.

nabisco, Friday, 31 August 2007 18:06 (eighteen years ago)

i love america

Mr. Que, Friday, 31 August 2007 18:07 (eighteen years ago)

The original title of the Beatles' 'Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' was 'Dr Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'.

nabisco, Friday, 31 August 2007 18:09 (eighteen years ago)

Wikipedia says:

"Dr. Pepper is considered the first of the major soft-drinks, ahead of its competition Coca-Cola and Pepsi."

Surely this is wrong.

Ms Misery, Friday, 31 August 2007 18:10 (eighteen years ago)

yeah WIKIPEDIA IS NEVER EVER WRONG

Mr. Que, Friday, 31 August 2007 18:11 (eighteen years ago)

I LOVE AMERICA

Mr. Que, Friday, 31 August 2007 18:13 (eighteen years ago)

The Beverage Marketing Corporation puts DP at number four. UNDER MOUNTAIN DEW.

Damn Friday, I need to work.

Ms Misery, Friday, 31 August 2007 18:14 (eighteen years ago)

ATL has a Coke museum. Why can't Waco have a DP one?

Ms Misery, Friday, 31 August 2007 18:14 (eighteen years ago)

Dr. Salt survives on surpassing extremely miniscule expectations.

"Dr. Salt? What the?!?"

"oooh! it's sweet!"

Ms Misery, Friday, 31 August 2007 18:16 (eighteen years ago)

Why can't Waco have a DP one?

Um.... Shouldn't it be somewhere in the San Fernando Valley?

Michael White, Friday, 31 August 2007 18:17 (eighteen years ago)

"The Museum is home to the W. W. Clements Free Enterprise Institute. The Institute was created in 1997 for the purpose of educating Texas school children and adults about the economic system that underlies American life. The program uses the soft drink industry as a model to teach students about developing, producing, and marketing products. The Dr Pepper Museum and Free Enterprise Institute is the only Museum in Texas to provide educational programming in the principles of economics."

Tracer Hand, Friday, 31 August 2007 18:18 (eighteen years ago)

that system includes stealing other people's products if they haven't patented them yet, i guess

Tracer Hand, Friday, 31 August 2007 18:19 (eighteen years ago)

Dr. Pepper is the best thing that Waco has ever produced. Let's not deny them their due.

Ms Misery, Friday, 31 August 2007 18:28 (eighteen years ago)

YEAH THUNDER

69, Friday, 31 August 2007 18:57 (eighteen years ago)

Yah yah Dr Pepper has no period after his or her title.

I am v. impressed you've tried Dr. IGA! I wish there were IGA food stores in my area. What is the name of the Wal-Mart one, I know it isn't Dr. Sam's Choice. I have to admit to buying one whenever I'm at a Wal-Mart. Fake bev of 25 cents, something kind and satisfying about it.

Did not Dr. Pepper get bought by the Cadbury company? I like that it's everywhere, as I pretty much hate all Pepsi products.

Abbott, Friday, 31 August 2007 19:12 (eighteen years ago)

The Wal-Mart one is Dr Thunder I am pretty sure.

Tape Store, Sunday, 2 September 2007 21:18 (eighteen years ago)

Pibb Xtra

More specifically, Pibb Xtra as it pours from the fountain at Hot Dougs in Chicago. Doug turns the syrup WAY up, which is normally not my thing (I'm a Coke over Pepsi person, not into pure sugar water) but something about the Pibb is just right when you're washing down a blueberry infused venison sausage with with apple mayonnaise.

yussel, Monday, 3 September 2007 21:40 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

Mr. Pibb probably has a PhD in the arts or something but is too modest to actually call himself "Doctor."

LOL I thought Abbott had surely revived this to mention the awesomely-named fake Dr. Pepper called "Mr. Goodguy" made by "the good guys" at Kalil Bottling, the company that has the contract for RC Cola and 7-Up down here in Southern Arizona... too bad I can't find a picture. I'll have to take one next time she brings one home... for some reason they have it in her work's vending machine but we've never seen it anywhere else.
