Those actors -- usually in an ITV crime drama -- who are unfailingly cast as the lead in some dreadful awful show, but are somehow always very good at what they do, and deserve a second look (and perhaps a better script).
Case in point below. Midsomer Murders: Terrible bollocks. Nettles: Dignified, handsome, capable line delivery -- in other words, really quite good.
