Oilyrags, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 08:59 (seventeen years ago)

I am A-OK with my lead-free existence to date.

Oilyrags, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 09:01 (seventeen years ago)

Shot at, as I've mentioned before and shot in the leg by a friend. Only a air pistol but I was wearing shorts and ouch it hurt.

Ned Trifle II, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 09:05 (seventeen years ago)

other than air rifles, i've fired a crappy cadet rifle thing on a shooting range: that was when i was at school. i can't remember the details, but we obviously weren't using live ammo, so i'm not sure if this counts or not.

i am a shit shot. i actually shot at the next dude's target for a while; we worked this out when it transpired he had an impossible number of hits.

xpost: i've been shot in the foot with an air pistol (didn't hurt at all, actually: thick trainers) and my bus window was taken out one night with an air gun of some kind, too.

grimly fiendish, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 09:21 (seventeen years ago)

why is there no option for "I took a few hits back in Nam"

The Real Dirty Vicar, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 09:21 (seventeen years ago)

oh, hang on. that first bit was meant to go on the "fired a gun" thread. ach. that's what happens when you open a load of ILX threads, then go off and do something else for a bit. sorry.

xpost because we don't want to bring back the traumas.

grimly fiendish, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 09:22 (seventeen years ago)

> why is there no option for "I took a few hits back in Nam"

There is.

"Yes, while serving in the military during a time of war"

And don't hand me any 'police action' crap as an excuse.

Oilyrags, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 09:29 (seventeen years ago)

My dreams, as also noted elsewhere, have been full of being chased by men with guns recently. When I'm shot in dreams though it never hurts. Come to think about it I don't think I ever feel pain on dreams, is that wierd or normal?

Ned Trifle II, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 09:34 (seventeen years ago)

it means you want to be shot by their "love gun"

latebloomer, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 09:58 (seventeen years ago)

craig to thread

ken c, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 10:12 (seventeen years ago)

No, but let me tell you about a close call.

I used to work at a video store that was open until midnight. We were usually there until 2 a.m. One night after closing, a coworker was shelving videos on some racks near the window when he heard a couple of thumps outside. He looked up and saw that two bullet holes had appeared in the window.

The police told us later that someone had just driven down the street shooting at all of the storefront windows. This happened a second time a few weeks later and I left the job.

kingkongvsgodzilla, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 10:21 (seventeen years ago)

I've had cocked and loaded guns pointed at me. It wasn't a pleasant experience, and no, I don't want to talk about it.

Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 11:41 (seventeen years ago)

uh

onimo, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 11:42 (seventeen years ago)

so close

sanskrit, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 11:47 (seventeen years ago)

So true.

kv_nol, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 11:49 (seventeen years ago)

it means you want to be shot by their "love gun"

cum-shot?

nathalie, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 11:51 (seventeen years ago)

i prefer the term "jizz jolt"

latebloomer, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 11:55 (seventeen years ago)

As mentioned on other thread, I had a moment of gun-wielding madness during a break-up. Could easily have shot myself by accident, not really knowing how sensitive the trigger on the gun was.

Beth Parker, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 11:59 (seventeen years ago)

it means you want to be shot by their "love gun"

cum-shot?

"cocked and loaded"

ken c, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 12:59 (seventeen years ago)

I haven't ever been shot, but my husband had a nasty (accidental) self-inflicted shotgun incident many years ago in which he blew the little finger on his left hand off. Ouch.

C J, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 13:09 (seventeen years ago)

i've been shot web.

s1ocki, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 13:41 (seventeen years ago)

Have you met Spiderman?

C J, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 13:47 (seventeen years ago)

I've been popel shot :\

ken c, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 13:48 (seventeen years ago)

I didn't intend to reawaken bad memories, Kate. Apologies.

Oilyrags, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 13:52 (seventeen years ago)

actually posting 'i don't want to talk about it' = wtf

blueski, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 14:06 (seventeen years ago)

i've had one pointed at me on two unfortunate occasions.

lauren, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 14:12 (seventeen years ago)

it's not that wtf really, cos i was going to ask about it, but i guess that was anticipated.

ken c, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 14:12 (seventeen years ago)

No, but I feel I'm missing out on an important experience

I want to see how many people vote for this one.

kenan, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 14:12 (seventeen years ago)

i pointed a gun at my sister once. i was 6. er there's not much more to say about it

ken c, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 14:13 (seventeen years ago)

I dreamt I got shot last night, but it didn't hurt so nobody gave a shit - is there a common fancy psychological explanation for this?

That mong guy that's shit, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 14:15 (seventeen years ago)

oh, maybe three times actually... i just remembered an incident in high school in which my friend and i were going to buy drugs and her idiot boyfriend said something like, "if they give us any trouble, they'll be sorry!" and pulled a small handgun out of his parka and started waving it around the car.

lauren, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 14:16 (seventeen years ago)

actually posting 'i don't want to talk about it' = wtf

Very OTM. It's a bit "Oh look at me. Look at me! No wait. Why are you looking at me? You haaaaate me." Oh wait, that's not wtf, that's just Masonic Boom.

kv_nol, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 14:21 (seventeen years ago)

Hmm drive-by in high school but I was not hit.

Does having my car shot by a kid when I was a teacher count? I wasn't in it at the time so I guess not. I called the car "fiddy" after that.

Ms Misery, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 14:26 (seventeen years ago)

i think saying "i don't want to talk about it" is ok.

ken c, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 14:31 (seventeen years ago)

What Kate's saying is that she was shot through the heart, and you're to blame.

kenan, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 14:32 (seventeen years ago)

Good Job.

ken c, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 14:33 (seventeen years ago)

You give love a bad name.

Dom Passantino, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 14:35 (seventeen years ago)

I selected "Yes, in a firearm mishap" before realising airguns didn't count. When I say "mishap" I'm still convinced the cunt meant it.

I was almost shot in a real firearms mishap. Scared the shit out of me, and the guy who almost shot me.

onimo, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 14:35 (seventeen years ago)

Was it Dick Cheney?

Ms Misery, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 14:36 (seventeen years ago)

No. Dick found his target.

kv_nol, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 14:37 (seventeen years ago)

He was practicing on Onimo.

Ms Misery, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 14:39 (seventeen years ago)

Damn, Onimo gets around...

kv_nol, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 14:41 (seventeen years ago)

i have been shot AT but it was a fail.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Wednesday, 5 September 2007 14:42 (seventeen years ago)

Just remembered, I was also near some people who were shot at in Ocean Beach, MD back in the 90s. We were sitting on the boardwalk benches next to theirs when, without warning, they ran off in a hurry. We bumped into them later that night and they told a story about making fun of a guy in a pink shirt. He apparently tried to shoot at them. There were a lot of police around the area, so we didn't get to check out the hole in the bench.

kingkongvsgodzilla, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 14:44 (seventeen years ago)

that's why you don't fuck with Cam'ron

sanskrit, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 15:11 (seventeen years ago)

Stabbed, but not shot.

Anna, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 15:12 (seventeen years ago)

Stabbed in a violent way (not a kitchen way)?

humansuit, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 15:14 (seventeen years ago)

In junior high, a 17 year old eighth grader tried to stick me with a cafeteria fork. It hurt a little, but didn't even get through my t-shirt.

It was actually more pathetic than frightening.

Oilyrags, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 15:32 (seventeen years ago)

17 year old eighth grader

That is insane. In the district where I taught, kids were chucked out of middle school when they hit 16. No ifs ands or buts.

Ms Misery, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 15:33 (seventeen years ago)

A couple of gang members were involved in a dispute outside of our apartment a good while back and they shot out the rear window of our front neighbor's car. Closest I've come.

humansuit, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 15:37 (seventeen years ago)

This was in Austin, at Lamar Jr. High, over there on Burnet and Koenig. Over 20 years ago, though. I'm thinking 82, most likely.

Oilyrags, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 15:51 (seventeen years ago)

I subbed once at jr. high on the east side whose name I've erased from my memory. It was a terrifying place and if someone had told me it was a copy of the middle school in Dallas where I would become a permanent teacher, I would have never gotten my license.

Ms Misery, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 15:52 (seventeen years ago)

a friend of mine was shot in the leg outside of the whitecastle in williamsburg. this was a bunch of years ago. he was found guilty of assault because they had him on video holding a chair from inside the whitecastle, which he picked up to defend himself when the guy flashed his gun. the guy who shot him got off/was not injured at all.

bell_labs, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 15:55 (seventeen years ago)

that's gangsta

sanskrit, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 16:00 (seventeen years ago)

that's so fucked

impudent harlot, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 18:06 (seventeen years ago)

I actually think I've heard of that wburg white castle incident before. N-n-n-notorious.

Jon Lewis, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 18:08 (seventeen years ago)

he got off probation just recently! would not be surprised if others here know him.

bell_labs, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 18:09 (seventeen years ago)

Does his first name rhyme with "Ray"?

Jon Lewis, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 18:12 (seventeen years ago)

Gay?

max, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 18:12 (seventeen years ago)

Fay Vincent?

milo z, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 18:13 (seventeen years ago)

nope. maybe other people were shot there? i know someone else who was mugged right there.

bell_labs, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 18:13 (seventeen years ago)

I see a Harold & Kumar sequel

milo z, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 18:16 (seventeen years ago)

Harold & Kumar Get Shot

Has a nice, final third of a trilogy sound to it, doesn't it?

B.L.A.M., Wednesday, 5 September 2007 18:18 (seventeen years ago)

Harold & Kumar & Rosencrantz & Guildenstern

milo z, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 18:20 (seventeen years ago)

meh. It only really works as a play.

kenan, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 18:23 (seventeen years ago)

kl0pper, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 18:23 (seventeen years ago)

The searing kiss of hot lead.

kenan, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 18:27 (seventeen years ago)

bell, that was damien, right? that w.c. just draws trouble. i was mugged at gunpoint right across the street.

lauren, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 18:47 (seventeen years ago)

yeh. amy was mugged there as well, but apparently scared the mugger off by waving a stiletto shoe in his face.

bell_labs, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 18:49 (seventeen years ago)

HA. unfortunately i was wearing flats at the time.

lauren, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 18:49 (seventeen years ago)

Wow. Wburg WCastle needs its own (lurid) wiki page.

Jon Lewis, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 18:51 (seventeen years ago)

The characters Rosenberg and Goldstein are also a reference to the characters Rosencrantz and Guildenstern in the play "Hamlet". The writers hope to create an alternate film with these characters that takes place in the same time period much like the way that the play "Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead" takes place in the same time period as "Hamlet".

n/a, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 18:52 (seventeen years ago)

I had a really vivid dream about getting shot in the head once. It was all in super slow-mo: I could feel my skull splinter; feel the bullet plow through my brain, turning it into milkshake shrapnel; feel it exit out the back of my head as the blood and fragments of bone lodged in my hair. My vision turned red with blood: I saw flashes of light and dark spots, spinning internally in pain as I felt my head spurting blood rhythmically.

So, this makes me think I don't want to get shot in the head.

Abbott, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 19:27 (seventeen years ago)

uh, yeah, thanks n/a.

Ms Misery, Wednesday, 5 September 2007 19:28 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Thursday, 6 September 2007 23:01 (seventeen years ago)

I've been shot on 8 mm film

Heave Ho, Thursday, 6 September 2007 23:49 (seventeen years ago)

Good work not catching a hot one, all but 5 ilxors.

I am a little surprised that no one was hit while in the service, but then again this board isn't exactly I Love The Smell of Napalm In the Morning.
