Your remote was kidnapped and murdered. You will find it buried under your neighbor's driveway.

humansuit, Thursday, 6 September 2007 15:12 (eighteen years ago)

this happened to me last night. i found it in the refrigerator.

strongohulkington, Thursday, 6 September 2007 15:14 (eighteen years ago)

Laurel, Thursday, 6 September 2007 15:16 (eighteen years ago)

yes, between the couch cushions/next to the couch arm where it slided off is the place I find mine 90% of the time. (other 10%: next to the toilet or fridge)

StanM, Thursday, 6 September 2007 15:17 (eighteen years ago)

The ancients were smart, they had remotes with cables.

StanM, Thursday, 6 September 2007 15:17 (eighteen years ago)

i don't have a garage! it's an apt actually.

not that it couldn't be in a garage, somewhere, at this point.

xp i'm going to have to clean my place top to bottom aren't i.

gff, Thursday, 6 September 2007 15:18 (eighteen years ago)

I had one of those remote-w/cable on my first VCR!

Everyone kept tripping on the cable, and the VCR would JUMP off it's shelf and BITE THEIR ANKLES!

Mark G, Thursday, 6 September 2007 15:19 (eighteen years ago)

under a pile of newspapers is the only answer

brownie, Thursday, 6 September 2007 15:20 (eighteen years ago)

A friend of mine said like six years ago that he wanted a gadget you cd attach to all important things like keys, remote, pack of cigarettes, and the control pad wd be wired to your wall by the front door and you could "page" your items. SURELY someone has done this by now?

Laurel, Thursday, 6 September 2007 15:20 (eighteen years ago)

many xposts:

don't i know it, sister

strongohulkington, Thursday, 6 September 2007 15:20 (eighteen years ago)

Is it in the dungeon? 'Cos that's where I always find mine.

Stone Monkey, Thursday, 6 September 2007 15:21 (eighteen years ago)

Does it work from there?

Mark G, Thursday, 6 September 2007 15:22 (eighteen years ago)

i'm fairly certain i've taken a remote control into the bathroom with me before

impudent harlot, Thursday, 6 September 2007 15:24 (eighteen years ago)

Did you look in the bin?

Matt #2, Thursday, 6 September 2007 15:25 (eighteen years ago)

brownie, Thursday, 6 September 2007 15:26 (eighteen years ago)

no i did not look in the bin!

gff, Thursday, 6 September 2007 15:26 (eighteen years ago)

when i was a kid, my mom had a "loyal keychain" that would beep if you whistled a particular series of notes. we could never get it to work even if it was sitting on the table in front of us and we were all whistling at it. but it went off in church all the time, or if like the radio was on.

nice work, inventor dude. you suck.

gff, Thursday, 6 September 2007 15:29 (eighteen years ago)

Have you tried the "not looking for it any more, just giving up and sitting down and lazily casting my eyes around until it magically appears where I've been looking all the time" approach?

My money's on the kitchen. That's where mine always ends up.

onimo, Thursday, 6 September 2007 15:32 (eighteen years ago)

I can't believe clapper technology hasn't been introduced to remote finding.

brownie, Thursday, 6 September 2007 15:33 (eighteen years ago)

Wouldn't that make looking at TV shows, live concerts, anything with applause kinda impossible?

StanM, Thursday, 6 September 2007 16:02 (eighteen years ago)

(and no, the clapper function cannot be turned off in that case, because we'd only forget to turn it on again & lose the remote just as easily)

StanM, Thursday, 6 September 2007 16:03 (eighteen years ago)

wait wait: clapper = finds remote; remote = controls tv

you could clap all you like and not affect the tv, as i understand this schema.

gff, Thursday, 6 September 2007 16:11 (eighteen years ago)

check the trash can, i throw mine away sometimes

max, Thursday, 6 September 2007 16:11 (eighteen years ago)

yes, but applause on TV = remote thinks you're looking for it, and it starts beeping! (xpost)

StanM, Thursday, 6 September 2007 16:15 (eighteen years ago)

there are always compromises in life

gff, Thursday, 6 September 2007 16:16 (eighteen years ago)

so why doesn't applause on TV send your clapper lights into beserk mode?

brownie, Thursday, 6 September 2007 16:19 (eighteen years ago)

It doesn't? Good question, then.

StanM, Thursday, 6 September 2007 16:20 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Thursday, 6 September 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

guess i'll check the kitchen, then.

and then, EVERY OTHER ROOM again.

gff, Thursday, 6 September 2007 23:23 (eighteen years ago)

ctrl+f

Roz, Thursday, 6 September 2007 23:36 (eighteen years ago)

I found my remote the other day in a little drawer in my coffee table. Do you have a little drawer in your coffee table?

jaymc, Thursday, 6 September 2007 23:39 (eighteen years ago)

Very dangerous poll, this. If it isn't in the kitchen, then we have proof that democracy doesn't work.

StanM, Friday, 7 September 2007 03:47 (eighteen years ago)

My money's on the fruitbowl.

Mark G, Friday, 7 September 2007 07:40 (eighteen years ago)

I'll know where to look if I break into your house then.

aldo, Friday, 7 September 2007 08:37 (eighteen years ago)

it was stuffed in a chair, btw. in the living room. about 6' from the tv.

thank you for your participation in this matter.

gff, Friday, 7 September 2007 18:27 (eighteen years ago)
