get bent, Friday, 7 September 2007 06:21 (eighteen years ago)

I was gonna say fresh from the root, but seeing the options of "as part of a savory sauce/dressing" and "as part of a sweet" and "in soup" I'm starting to think that by "fresh from the root" you mean RAW. Really?

Fresh Ginger likes to hang out in a frying pan with her friends Chopped Garlic, Diced Onion, and Minced Chili. Soon they will be joined by Mr. Curry Powder, who gets lonely if he spends too long away from his life partner, Ms. Coconut Milk, so she usually comes along too. When Fresh Ginger's got her whole crew with her, anything can happen, anything.

Missing poll option for "all of the above".

I love crystalised ginger, but also love it in savory sauces, fresh from the root, gingerbread, ginger beer, however, really!

Ed, Friday, 7 September 2007 10:29 (eighteen years ago)

Ohmygod, crystalised yoghurt coated... :;drools:: I got some of those on that gourmet shop on the Isle of Wight! Where can you get them around here?

I still haven't voted. Oh dear.

Masonic Boom, Friday, 7 September 2007 10:35 (eighteen years ago)

Allara, the healthfood shop by the brunswick centre sells is and the nut and dried fruit man in leather lane may also do so.

aldo, Friday, 7 September 2007 12:40 (eighteen years ago)

All of the above, with a special mention for ginger ale with rye whiskey over ice. Works well with bourbon, too.

Damnit, it's not even 8 am! I just got to work!

I apologised! Sorry again, I was quoting South Park!

kv_nol, Saturday, 8 September 2007 12:56 (eighteen years ago)

I voted for fresh from root, because it's so good sauteed (combined w/ garlic) and added to root veggies or winter squash for roasting. I lived on this for months. I had the Breath of Death.
I've also become a fan of this Kombucha Ginger-ade, I forget the brand. Yummy. The only bottled iced tea I've found that doesn't have sugar in it. The kombucha is fermented. It tastes real, dude.

Beth Parker, Saturday, 8 September 2007 13:58 (eighteen years ago)

I had some hippie cereal from the Dekalb market this morning, with dried ginger and dried raspberries among the corn flakes and oat clusters. Nice and spicy.

Rock Hardy, Saturday, 8 September 2007 14:01 (eighteen years ago)

For those who don't know, it's a Ginger soda, very good. Especially for a hangover.

Also ginger lemon tea is good for a hangover too. I'm going to have some right now.

I don't mind ginger flavor but when I get pieces of it in Chinese or Thai food - Eccchhhh!

As spices go I could probably live without it with no problem (I voted for Tina Louise).
