Pied Wagtail is my favourite bird, so I voted that. (By 'gay' I take it you mean 'sprightly, jubilant'...)

I like a Wagtail meself.

Noodle Vague, Friday, 7 September 2007 09:35 (eighteen years ago)

By gay, we mean whatever the Massiv meant. ( Worlds Daftest Robber? )

StanM, Friday, 7 September 2007 09:36 (eighteen years ago)

You get them in your garden?

Noodle Vague, Friday, 7 September 2007 09:57 (eighteen years ago)

Yep, it's full of them. They are attracted by the tomatoes.

Nasty, Brutish & Short, Friday, 7 September 2007 10:06 (eighteen years ago)

I love magpies, they have those fantastic tailfeathers and like sparkling bling, so they are the gayest, yes, in a good way.

no love for Charlie?!

I voted for the wren, even though my bird feeder is in New England. Wrens are so personable and bold. They occasionally come inside the house if you leave the door open.

Come on, people!

Beth Parker, Sunday, 9 September 2007 00:59 (eighteen years ago)

Are your British wrens as cute?

Beth Parker, Sunday, 9 September 2007 01:00 (eighteen years ago)

Not gay quite so much as rampant, and always, always, cruelly overlooked The Dunnock

Matt, Sunday, 9 September 2007 01:14 (eighteen years ago)

and Beth, yes, the plumage maybe not quite as jaunty but wrens are awesome

Matt, Sunday, 9 September 2007 01:15 (eighteen years ago)

I suspect the personality characteristics are universal, we used to have one which nested just outside our front door and used to hop around the kitchen like it owned the place

Matt, Sunday, 9 September 2007 01:18 (eighteen years ago)

Dunnocks are lovely. I'm not mad about their tea-cakes tho.

Ned Trifle II, Monday, 10 September 2007 05:26 (eighteen years ago)

I honestly expected Charlie Dimmock to walk this.
