Big Brother twins Sam and Amanda Marchant are set to release their own version of novelty song Barbie Girl.

The single, a cover of Aqua's 1997 hit number one song, will reach the shops in October.

The 19-year-old twins, who were joint runners-up in the show, said: "It's a dream come true for us to record our favourite song of all time.

"We're just so excited about everything and keep having to pinch ourselves to make sure it's all real."

'Superstardom'

The twins - who agreed to be treated as one person for the purposes of the show - were hugely popular housemates.

Both said they were partying, shopping and all things pink and fluffy.

The pair, who are both studying social work at Manchester Metropolitan University, also sang their own "twin song" in the Big Brother house.

A spokesman for record company Sony BMG, which has signed up the twins, said: "It is a measure of how much viewers identified with the twins that they were the only Big Brother contestants never to have been nominated for a single eviction.

"They are also the only Big Brother contestants ever to have signed with a major record company. Superstardom beckons for them."

Put this on ILE instead of ILM as it's Big Brother related.

now, i didn't watch it this year, so the rules might have changed, but ... isn't it the housemates who nominate?

Important qn not addressed - who is doing the Einar* bits?

*I know the guy in Aqua was not Einar. But that was his job.

Groke, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 09:15 (eighteen years ago)

I find (after reading this (which is very icky) that they are 18, so they would have been 8 when it came out so I suppose it makes sense. Except that they are now 18.

Ned Trifle II, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 09:16 (eighteen years ago)

Mark G, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 10:56 (eighteen years ago)

caught charley on Weakest Link, WAG special the other day. jesus christ. her and danielle 'she should go home' whatserface from last cbb were in the final. questions several orders of magnitude easier than usual and they were still pathetic. charley asked for virtually all of her questions to be repeated then was all 'oh, i know this one' never once just giving a straight answer.
