I wore soccer socks to work yesterday because I didn't have any other clean socks.

I am of daily knee-sock vintage. Eventually they would die on you and you'd have to keep pulling them up. That said, Argyle knee socks! I wouldn't mind a pair.

I worked for a woman once who wore knee socks pulled up over leggings. That was BAD.

My mom loves knee-socks but I've never understood 'em -- I need socks to keep my feet warm, when legs are covered by pants. I could reconsider if we're talking skirts, but otherwise no.

i'm finally comfortable with it and obv have gone over to the dark side but that is ok

I'd like to be able to wear over-the-knee socks (not tights) like these and still look winsome, but with my legs being so sturdy already, thick socks just make them chub. Plus fitting heavy socks into shoes is a no-go unless you like suitably clompy styles.

Yeah, I have to buy large socks always always if they're going to reach over mah knees, but then feet are too big so I turn the toes under and sew 'em. It's a lot of headache.

yeah the way those socks are bunching in those heels is why I have an aversion to this look.

I bought a lot of knee socks last year to go under my harness boots and/or wear as experiment but have ended up using them all for highland practice, instead. This winter I think I stick to tights & stockings.

Maybe it's becuase since I had to wear knee socks with my high school uniform I definitely associate them with being a teenager. I think if I tried them now at 29 I'd just feel silly. I'd wear them around the house but I don't know about outside. Hmmmm. I love them so though. Maybe I'll give it a try this year and report back.

If you wear those over-the-knee socks you have to wear only one shoe and strike a coquettish pigeon-toed pose, like the model.

Yeah, I was thinking the same. They don't fit with the heels. I love the shiny super thin knee socks with heavy pumps. (Yeah yeah, Miu Miu. STFU I'm know I am a Prada aficionada.)

Truth be told, I couldn't wear'em as I have fat legs. :-( One needs really slender legs and I sadly look like I have fat cow legs. :-(

You think? Hmm, I was more thinking of this shoe (with knee socks). Although I think the spiky ones work with the knee socks. Sort of lolita student playing hookie by quickly putting on some high heels and still wearing her uniform or something? Does that make sense AT ALL?

I used to have a pair of mid-calf socks. One time I was cycling and my longish skirt hiked (?) up so you could see that I was wearing mid-calf socks. One of my teenage neighbours saw it. I felt so utterly embarassed. hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

i have this pair of really thick wool red knee socks that a friend gave me but i have never worn them out b/c they are kind of christmasy/santa-like and i think only fit in one pair shoes that i have. they are i think more like camping socks

major xpost - knitting knee socks is kind of a bitch. lots of intense shaping plus LOTS of yarn (a lot more than you would expect).

i love knee socks in theory, but don't wear them because i don't wear short enough skirts anymore. i don't think they work with something knee length, unless you have enough space between top-of-sock and knee to show some skin. (maybe if i ever lose 20 pounds....)

see, i like them with something knee length because it doesn't look little-girly, it just looks inoffensive and possibly cutely dowdy. that tiny inch of skin is all you see, see?

I am way into knee socks because:
I tend to wear clunky non dainty shoes and knee socks works well with them
I am very lazy and neglect shaving legs and sometimes don't want to wear tights because I want more wind whooshing around
knee high boots sometimes are too much committment

I also only do black knee socks or opaque tights, and I just ordered a bunch of tights from Tabio because I like to wear socks over tights too.

I think there was one fall when I alway had knee hi socks on and would go home and change into addidas shorts to walk the dog and was always walking around with shorts and knee hi socks and people made comments. I think I just hate to wear pants.

i ended up wearing knee socks today after all!
it started raining like crazy and i had to go out, and i put on thin wool navy socks and boots. it was the right idea. got v rained on. hung out, dried off. drank beers & etc. watched suspiria. it was awesome. am really into super-saturated colours.

Ihave knee high black and white skull n crossbone ones, and some red and black stripey ones. I wear them with boots or with maryjanes, sometimes over tights.

But a specific type of kneesock - not like dress socks or sports ones, ew.
