Keep your wallet in your front pocket.

wanko ergo sum, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 23:47 (eighteen years ago)

i'll watch your wife

cutty, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 23:48 (eighteen years ago)

both the museum and botanical gardens have been recommended to me by others too - sounds like a good bet. Although I mentioned this to my wife and she said "Brooklyn Museum... Museum of what?"

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 23:49 (eighteen years ago)

art, mostly.
they have a great egyptian collection, though, and some other more historical stuff.

ian, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 23:51 (eighteen years ago)

ooh I loves Egyptian stuff

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 23:51 (eighteen years ago)

the brooklyn bridge is a wonderful thing to walk across
wandering the neighborhoods of downtown brooklyn: bk heights, park slope, ft greene etc will leave you saying "ah isnt this charming"
strolling the coney island boardwalk will give you a special feeling

of course all of these things may cause yr wife to proclaim "i am pregnant and dont feel like walking that much. also i hate you."

jhøshea, Tuesday, 11 September 2007 23:54 (eighteen years ago)

as far as places to see art in nyc the bk museum pretty much sux fyi

the BK museum has some ok exhibs on right now, apparently, but for permanent stuff you want the met and moma. we're in between big exhibs in most places at the moment.

cutty, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 00:34 (eighteen years ago)

shakey that whitney exhibit is right up your alley. plus there is plenty of serious art in it so your wife can't accuse you of dragging her out to see hippy shit. only potential drawback is that i believe it is a travelling exhibition and may make it to your neck of the woods eventually.

sanskrit, Wednesday, 12 September 2007 00:34 (eighteen years ago)

isnt the feminist exhibit still at the brooklyn museum? shakey might want to skip that one.

If you're into egyptian stuff and you've never, you've gotta go to the temple of dendur (and the rest of the egyptian galleries) at the met. You could also check out cleopatra's needle in the park behind the museum.

I missed this thread, Shakey! At the moment I have an extra Mets ticket for Saturday, but that doesn't help your wife, alas.

MoMA is free tonight, and they're showing Mean Streets at 6.
