Pleasant Plains, Thursday, 13 September 2007 03:50 (eighteen years ago)

I use my own custom style sheet.

Jeff, Thursday, 13 September 2007 03:51 (eighteen years ago)

For some reason, I've stuck with the keith.css. It's kinda funny because I was one of the loudest squealers when everything on ILX changed.

I like keith's format for the spacing of the thread titles, the salmon colored menu bars, and the fact that the other formats either seem too bunched up or impossible to read.

Pleasant Plains, Thursday, 13 September 2007 03:52 (eighteen years ago)

i like black.css because it makes me feel like im looking at a circa-1997 w4r3z site

max, Thursday, 13 September 2007 03:56 (eighteen years ago)

that and 3270.css

max, Thursday, 13 September 2007 03:58 (eighteen years ago)

gabbneb, Thursday, 13 September 2007 05:21 (eighteen years ago)

I like blueski's or just the default one.

Melissa W, Thursday, 13 September 2007 05:29 (eighteen years ago)

You can change the way ILX looks?

Ned Trifle II, Thursday, 13 September 2007 06:31 (eighteen years ago)

I like the last one - I really don't like the black one, you can't see anything.

Ned Trifle II, Thursday, 13 September 2007 06:34 (eighteen years ago)

Melissa W seconded.

What I really want to do is change how every other forum looks. Sig lines and avatars? On every post? Really?

Kerm, Thursday, 13 September 2007 06:36 (eighteen years ago)

sig lines: very annoying

tehresa, Thursday, 13 September 2007 06:39 (eighteen years ago)

the vBulletin boards with all the dancing smileys...

Kerm, Thursday, 13 September 2007 06:48 (eighteen years ago)

Daer fellow ilxors, if you want to check out one of the other stylesheets because someone mentioned them on this thread, don't just scroll up and click that one, it'll just say "You have already voted in this poll and cannot vote again"

Don't ask how I know this, m'kay?

StanM, Thursday, 13 September 2007 07:05 (eighteen years ago)

Smiley face

Ned Trifle II, Thursday, 13 September 2007 07:30 (eighteen years ago)

Kerm, yes! I think that's one of the reasons why ILX is such an appealing board-- it's not completely irritating to look at and scroll though. Those graphical emoticons or whatever they're called; good god.

This board's design is so pleasantly clean...plus in terms of functionality, merely scrolling upwards to read older posts is much less annoying than having to repeatedly flip back through pages and scroll a bunch more as one would on most VBulletin-type boards.

dell, Thursday, 13 September 2007 07:56 (eighteen years ago)

I am heretofor officially boycotting ILX until the day when it is all bright red comic sans on a background of centaurbooty.gif.

nickalicious, Thursday, 13 September 2007 08:01 (eighteen years ago)

Failing that you guys can at least spice it up with boobies.

nickalicious, Thursday, 13 September 2007 08:02 (eighteen years ago)

I think that the Blueski's Stylesheet is very attractive, and rates as the most aesthetically pleasing of the options at hand. However, I almost always use the standard default, and I supppose that is based on some sort of anxiety I have around Changes In Life, which leaves me seeking the familiar comforts of it's Classic-ness.

dell, Thursday, 13 September 2007 08:03 (eighteen years ago)

Oh crap! The Defend the Indefensible: Comic Sans thread might have been a good one to nominate in the "best threads" poll.

dell, Thursday, 13 September 2007 08:05 (eighteen years ago)

Blueski's looks great but I don't really want ILX to look great, I want it to look blank and utilitarian, so Standard wins.

I don't really like any of the others.

Matt DC, Thursday, 13 September 2007 08:14 (eighteen years ago)

Huh? God, I'm thick. I never realized you could use another stylesheet. In fast, I'll confess I don't even know how to. :-(

nathalie, Thursday, 13 September 2007 08:47 (eighteen years ago)

Oh wow, I just found it. (Wow at: woohoo you can change it and woohoo I'm not as stupid as I thought I was.)

I think I like the simple one the best as it doesn't give the impression I'm actually posting to the board at work.

nathalie, Thursday, 13 September 2007 08:48 (eighteen years ago)

until this thread was posted i didn't know you could change it. i'm sticking with standard, because i fear change.

That one guy that hit it and quit it, Thursday, 13 September 2007 08:49 (eighteen years ago)

<style type="text/css">
p {font-family: wingdings}
</style>

Jarlrmai, Thursday, 13 September 2007 08:52 (eighteen years ago)

the emulator one is quite hard to read.

That one guy that hit it and quit it, Thursday, 13 September 2007 08:53 (eighteen years ago)

Eh, this simple stylesheet is confusing. Man, I don't think I can take change. Maybe it's too simple in a way.

nathalie, Thursday, 13 September 2007 08:54 (eighteen years ago)

And quite frankly, I doubt my colleagues buy the "she's working" impression I am doing. Do you really giggle or violently tap your keyboard when working?

nathalie, Thursday, 13 September 2007 08:54 (eighteen years ago)

Are you a writer for a BBC 3 comedy?

Jarlrmai, Thursday, 13 September 2007 08:56 (eighteen years ago)

sorry i never got round to clearing mine up - several problems with it e.g. no links at the bottom, some of the top options go missing when you click More. i wrote it expecting all page types to have been set up the same way but this was not the case (see Stats, You have already voted page etc.)

blueski, Thursday, 13 September 2007 09:42 (eighteen years ago)

i couldn't work out why i couldn't get blue strips to appear on actual thread pages either

blueski, Thursday, 13 September 2007 09:43 (eighteen years ago)

so look out for v2 in a few weeks. mebbe.

blueski, Thursday, 13 September 2007 09:46 (eighteen years ago)

blueski.css also has the added benefit of removing the start a new poll option

Heave Ho, Thursday, 13 September 2007 11:50 (eighteen years ago)

"Are you a writer for a BBC 3 comedy?"

Nope. :-(

nathalie, Thursday, 13 September 2007 12:09 (eighteen years ago)

blueski.css also has the added benefit of removing the start a new poll option

this was not intentional!

blueski, Thursday, 13 September 2007 14:11 (eighteen years ago)

Original recipe with 11 herbs and spices, no doubt. I like having a lot of information on one page.

Oilyrags, Thursday, 13 September 2007 14:12 (eighteen years ago)

i use 3270 at work because I work on a mainframe and it looks a little like it. its not so hard to read. i guess i use the default at home.

sunny successor, Thursday, 13 September 2007 14:39 (eighteen years ago)

i like the terminal one, but the font is wrong isnt it

artdamages, Thursday, 13 September 2007 15:03 (eighteen years ago)

I use Blueski's. I like the small font on the username/date.

jaymc, Thursday, 13 September 2007 15:18 (eighteen years ago)

xpost - yes, indeed it is

sunny successor, Thursday, 13 September 2007 15:30 (eighteen years ago)

now that i know some other people actually use it i will bust my ass to clean it up

blueski, Thursday, 13 September 2007 15:52 (eighteen years ago)

hooray

El Tomboto, Thursday, 13 September 2007 15:54 (eighteen years ago)

I should figure out how to get ILX to work with Lynx: Posting didn't work last time I tried. Then you could ILX in a real terminal emulator, stylesheets be damned.

libcrypt, Thursday, 13 September 2007 15:58 (eighteen years ago)

I use blueski's as well.

libcrypt: it works all right in links, I think.

stet, Thursday, 13 September 2007 17:11 (eighteen years ago)

The only things I don't like about blueski's are the font (I prefer Verdana to Arial), and the fact that it's nearly flush against the left side. I like a little bit more padding.

Melissa W, Thursday, 13 September 2007 17:27 (eighteen years ago)

If ilx is black I will die.

roxymuzak, Thursday, 13 September 2007 17:28 (eighteen years ago)

Someone should do a "work" stylesheet, where everything's made to look like an Office application, and it inserts random graphs and terminal screenshots every few posts.

nabisco, Thursday, 13 September 2007 17:31 (eighteen years ago)

NeverForgetDogLatin.css

nabisco, Thursday, 13 September 2007 17:32 (eighteen years ago)

style.css all the way

Curt1s is coming to Zwinktopia !, Thursday, 13 September 2007 22:18 (eighteen years ago)

simple's the one for me, with added greasemonkey variations

Jaq, Thursday, 13 September 2007 22:20 (eighteen years ago)

I like Keith's but use simple.

Jordan, Thursday, 13 September 2007 22:23 (eighteen years ago)

I should make a new one inspired by schefterblogz and wizardisugly

El Tomboto, Thursday, 13 September 2007 22:28 (eighteen years ago)

style, obv!

Someone should do a "work" stylesheet, where everything's made to look like an Office application, and it inserts random graphs and terminal screenshots every few posts.

This would be a great idea. I used to have some firefox extension or variant that did this to all sites, but it really fell through because it looked even more suspicious at my work than a straight up firefox window. It did have a boss button though, which was handy!

melton mowbray, Friday, 14 September 2007 01:27 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Friday, 21 September 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Saturday, 22 September 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

wtf, thanks to this thread i went and tried all the stylesheets on and now i can't get back to what i had before!!! i'm in the "standard" one and it basically looks right except all the text is a size or two too small!!! halp halp!!!

Doctor Casino, Sunday, 23 September 2007 03:45 (eighteen years ago)

Hilariously enough, loading the Comic Sans thread fixed it.

Doctor Casino, Sunday, 23 September 2007 03:47 (eighteen years ago)

3270 is unusable/unreadable, mostly because the font color is way too dark. The real 3270 green is brighter. Also the font is totally wrong.

Alex in SF, Sunday, 23 September 2007 04:02 (eighteen years ago)

three years pass...

Okay, why is everything in Times New Roman all of a surgeon?

Post-Manpat Music (dog latin), Tuesday, 19 July 2011 15:27 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, this is weird.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Tuesday, 19 July 2011 15:29 (fourteen years ago)

i just reset my stylesheet in prefs, fixed for me.

jackie tretorn (elmo argonaut), Tuesday, 19 July 2011 15:30 (fourteen years ago)

Oh, it's everyone. Just tried out some others (naus.css and ledge1.css are great!) but back to style.css it is :-/

StanM, Tuesday, 19 July 2011 15:31 (fourteen years ago)

'Suggest Ban' dangerously close to 'Bookmark' now. Just sayin'

I can't get my original font back, this is really upsetting me.

Aphex Twin … in my vagina? (Karen D. Tregaskin), Tuesday, 19 July 2011 15:44 (fourteen years ago)

RIP caek.css.

James Mitchell, Tuesday, 19 July 2011 15:45 (fourteen years ago)

Back to normal here

Asamoah Nyan (Le Bateau Ivre), Tuesday, 19 July 2011 15:46 (fourteen years ago)

Oops, this is my bad, I accidentally changed the default stylesheet to the old-school one.

I'll put it back as it was. Should probably update to new world at some point after it's tested, though, it's way better than the default.

(You can change any stylesheet at any time from preferences btw.)

stet, Tuesday, 19 July 2011 15:46 (fourteen years ago)

It's not the stylesheet I'm having trouble with. When it first happened, I changed my font IN FIREFOX to verdana or something strange and now I can't get it back to the nice easily readable font it was before.

Aphex Twin … in my vagina? (Karen D. Tregaskin), Tuesday, 19 July 2011 15:47 (fourteen years ago)

old skool 4 lyfe

ledge, Tuesday, 19 July 2011 15:49 (fourteen years ago)

Oh thank god, I fixed it. I thought I was going to have to page through every single font installed on my machine.
