Antipasti, paste, primi, secondi, cotorni, dessert

is this not like À la Russe?

blueski, Friday, 14 September 2007 09:41 (eighteen years ago)

It is but it is the specific case for italy and happens on family tables as well as in restaurants. Deserves it's own mention, I think.

Buffet...

*rumpie*, Friday, 14 September 2007 10:28 (eighteen years ago)

who still serves 'out of newspaper' anyway?

blueski, Friday, 14 September 2007 10:36 (eighteen years ago)

ok, out of news print, I was using it as an analogue for all street food packaging.

Ed, Friday, 14 September 2007 10:38 (eighteen years ago)

it was an earnest question! ah well. beige polystyrex or whatever it is doesn't have the same charm i know

blueski, Friday, 14 September 2007 10:41 (eighteen years ago)

Aha! I can answer this - there's a new-ish cider barge in Bristol, and it serves the chips (with their fish and chips) wrapped in newspaper. On the plate.

Ned Trifle II, Friday, 14 September 2007 11:05 (eighteen years ago)

WHAT ABOUT CAFETERIA STYLE?? as a child i despised it but now i love it. like a buffet, but somebody else serves it up for you and there's a TRAY.

Tracer Hand, Friday, 14 September 2007 11:06 (eighteen years ago)

Or Automat style, (I was delighted to see that Amsterdam still has places like this)

Ed, Friday, 14 September 2007 11:07 (eighteen years ago)

Anyway, to answer the q. - the Italian one. Although it makes me feel rather full just thinking about it. I'll miss out the contorni. And combine the paste and primi in one dish - spaghetti alla vongole bianco - thanks.

Ned Trifle II, Friday, 14 September 2007 11:13 (eighteen years ago)

That seems to negate the whole italian experience IMHO.

Ed, Friday, 14 September 2007 11:16 (eighteen years ago)

True, but puking it all up would also somewhat negate the experience.

Ned Trifle II, Friday, 14 September 2007 11:30 (eighteen years ago)

You guys, a html form owl.

RUSSE HELLO HOW ELSE CAN I GET ONE ENTIRE COURSE THAT IS AN OLIVE.

Abbott, Friday, 14 September 2007 19:41 (eighteen years ago)

My vote also goes to newspaper. I had fish and chips served this way in Whitby once.

RUSSE HELLO HOW ELSE CAN I GET ONE ENTIRE COURSE THAT IS AN OLIVE.

I DIED, Friday, 14 September 2007 19:52 (eighteen years ago)

I DIED, Friday, 14 September 2007 19:54 (eighteen years ago)
