this poll will have a pronounced northeastern bias, so i apologize in advance if i've left off some mega-southern/californian chain of which i am totally ignorant. i have tried to be as inclusive as possible (thanks wikipedia) though.

thank you, come again!

don't laugh, stevie -- wawa is the shit! best coffee of any convenience store (though i prefer dunkin donuts and starbucks) by FAR. it's an institution in half of New Jersey.

Eisbaer, Sunday, 16 September 2007 08:27 (eighteen years ago)

I miss Wawa. We used to have them everywhere in MD, but sometime in the 90s they all closed down and a bunch of crappy no-name stores took over.

Upon seeing the list above, I'm suddenly reminded of the Fall lyric "It's a QUICK TRIP TO ICEHOUSE". And no I can't remember which song that is, as usual.

I don't have a fave convenience store. Here in Washington state, we have what's called AM/PM's that have the cheapest gasoline. But the people who work there are always so bored & standoffish that it's a bummer so if I have to go to a convenience store I'll walk a little further down the road to a non-chain store owned by a really nice and rather sexy older Asian lady.

Bimble, Sunday, 16 September 2007 13:32 (eighteen years ago)

i thought about adding gas station convenience stores -- such as AM/PMs -- and some of the stores listed above have gas stations (e.g., Wawa). i think that i decided against it because i wanted convenience store chains that were largely freestanding and not necessarily attached to gas stations. maybe that was too arbitrary.

Wawa for sure.
As Eisbaer said, great coffee. But also really good hot soup and a deli counter that's much better than it needs to be and will give you as many pickles on your sandwich as you desire. They even have very fresh authentic philly soft pretzels in the middle of the night.

Wawa! For people too drunk to say "Seven Eleven."

Only ONE of these convenience stores can properly follow the statement "There's strange things afoot at the"

Wawa, ain't that so! Still, sorry to see that Turkey Hill Minit Marts didn't get any votes. From what I remember, they have great store-brand iced tea (and ice-cream, of course).
