LAS VEGAS - O.J. Simpson was arrested Sunday on charges related to an armed robbery involving sport memorabilia, police said.

Simpson was arrested shortly after 11 a.m. and is being brought to a police office, Capt. James Dillon said. Police are still determining charges against Simpson.

Several police officers were seen entering the hotel where Simpson is staying; a security guard said police took Simpson out a side door shortly after.

At least one other person has been arrested and police said earlier Sunday that as many as six people could be arrested in connection with the alleged armed robbery that occurred in a room inside the Palace Station casino-hotel on Thursday.

Simpson, 60, has said he and other people with him were retrieving items that belonged to him. He told police no guns were involved.

Police said two firearms and other evidence were seized at a private residence early Sunday.

Walter Alexander, 46, of Arizona, was arrested Saturday night on two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery and burglary with a deadly weapon.

O. J. Simpson, sports memorabilia collectors, two examples of the multitude of shit stains in modern America. In a move that showed unusual and a slightly uncharacteristic concern for its reader's mental health, the LA Times stuffed him way down inside the A section today.

One can imagine the charge and pity anyone selected for potential jury service: Conspiracy to commit robbery and burglary from burglars and robbers.

he's guilty btw

velko, Saturday, 4 October 2008 06:06 (seventeen years ago)

it seems a little crazy that he will possibly spend the rest of his life in prison for basically going into a hotel room and saying "hey give me back my stuff", albeit with a couple of armed buddies. probably some kind of karmic payback, i s'pose.

maybe a little stabbing will cheer him up

Shakey Mo Collier, Friday, 5 December 2008 18:32 (seventeen years ago)

i'd feel pretty stupid too if i got away w/double murder and then got sonned on a memorabilia beef

omar little, Friday, 5 December 2008 18:32 (seventeen years ago)

yeah true -- i wonder if there's a little part of him that wishes he went down for the murder instead of something so inane like this

Bomb Sackantino (J0rdan S.), Friday, 5 December 2008 18:33 (seventeen years ago)

to be fair, this isn't exactly inane (altho yeah obviously it pales next to vicious double homicide)

Shakey Mo Collier, Friday, 5 December 2008 18:35 (seventeen years ago)

This all just seemed so inevitable -- pretty much as soon as the murder verdict came in, I couldn't imagine any kind of life for the guy that wasn't some form of downward spiral into shady business.

nabisco, Friday, 5 December 2008 18:36 (seventeen years ago)

dude had a really shitty life anyway if hanging out with low-life memorabilia hounds is any indication. idk if i've ever said this on ilx (not much of a story) but OJ's house was across the street from a high school that i went to as a freshman and oftentimes my friends and i would go to this sports bar to watch games that weren't on local tv (nfl or whatever). we went in there when i was a freshman in the afternoon to watch the first day of the ncaa tournament and oj was in there at like 2 or 3, by himself, drunk and sloppily rooting for cal to beat some team (pac-10 pride i suppose). it was really odd and looking back kind of sad

Bomb Sackantino (J0rdan S.), Friday, 5 December 2008 18:37 (seventeen years ago)

you mean usc.

Yeah, Jordan, that's exactly what I mean -- just hearing about this one, the first thought was of course, that's what you do if you're OJ, you're forced to scrounge around in the sports memorabilia market; it's not like you can get involved in much up-and-up business, or endorse fitted gloves, or anything. It seems so last-resort to begin with.

nabisco, Friday, 5 December 2008 18:42 (seventeen years ago)

they let high school freshmen into sports bars?

Shakey Mo Collier, Friday, 5 December 2008 18:42 (seventeen years ago)

nah that's what im saying - he was rooting for cal cuz i think he just wanted the pac-10 team to win

Bomb Sackantino (J0rdan S.), Friday, 5 December 2008 18:42 (seventeen years ago)

all those fallen athletes seem to end up in the memorabilia racket, which is a pretty foul enterprise overall yeah. pete rose, canseco, etc

omar little, Friday, 5 December 2008 18:43 (seventeen years ago)

in the afternoon yeah

All the thugs in max-security will be lining up, drooling at the opportunity to shiv OJ. I suspect he will be a prime canditate on next years death-watch threads for this reason. Oh well. If the glove fits..

u can tell he knows what hes talking about by his use of prison slang like "shiv" and "thugs" and "max-security"

I wouldn't put it past a screw to punk OJ into a dirt nap

Keep living with the comfortable buffer of ironic distance and don't bother yrself with the real realness of reality.
