Dude those books serve a valuable function in our culture - ie Christmas presents for people you are obliged to buy something for, despite not knowing them very well and wanting to know them even less.

I originally read that as "pitch" = sports. The reality is more horrifying.

That's horrific, it's like a self-help book for dudes with a cocaine habit.

Two of my friends actually have that book ("is everything shit"). I've flicked through it. Some of their railing is screamingly obvious, most is accurate and witty, and a very small amount is wild, embarrassingly off-beam vitriol for its own sake. Decent book for having next to your toilet (as was the case in those friends' houses).

Yeah, they did call Johnson come to think of it. My initial verdict was perhaps a tad harsh; they're generally OTM, with a few disagreements, and a few cases ('Keane') where the subject concerned is so obviously shit that it doesn't deserve the recognition, despite the witty evisceration it doubtless receives.
