Bebo has overtaken search giant Google as the most viewed web site in the UK, according to new research out today.

A ComScore report found that social network Bebo attracted 8.6bn page impressions during August, ahead of Google and associated sites with 8.46bn.

The news comes in the same week that Bebo signed a deal with Yahoo! that will see the internet giant sell advertising for the social network, integrate Yahoo! answers within its platform and develop a Bebo-branded browser toolbar.

UK-run Bebo has 38m users worldwide, and has recently struck high profile deals with Paramount Pictures, Buena Vista and Sony Pictures to run exclusive shows and advertising on the network.

Okay I know it's big, I know kids be social networking and it's not really about 20 somethings like myself but more page impressions than Google? How the fuck does that happen?

I found out I was on Bebo because Rainy asked me to be, like two years ago or something. She is my only friend.

Social networking sites seem to rise and fall in popularity in the manner of college party houses or Brooklyn music venues.

I'm afraid to go on bebo because of all the teenagers who might be talking in textspeech in there.

Oh the other hand, I guess most of us are quite old on these networking websites. I met some people my age who didn't know what Friendster was :(
