Stephen Colbert has a new book!

I Am America (And So Can You!) is out in the second weekend in October!

http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/I/51w%2B0RlecZL._SS500_.jpg

Why write this book now? Stephen fears America has lost its balls. He hopes to re-ballify us. Even the ladies. Ladies can have balls — lady-balls. Stephen likes to call those "Thatchers." Stephen will show how he got his mammoth swinging sack, with tales of courage and vital documents from his own life: the Mother's Day card he made at age six, disputed credit card bills, putt-putt score cards — all the major milestones.

The book will be cleverly designed to be a high status, uber-important collector's item with first editions including a Christmas DVD of "Stephen and Friends" singing original Christmas tunes. Don't buy this book if you don't have any balls! But if you do buy it, you will get them, and then you can buy another copy with a clean conscience.

Oh yeah, and he has a "Best-of" DVD in november. Hooray.

I keep trying to find something I dislike about Colbert and I just can't.

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 03:30 (eighteen years ago)

see my recent post on the rightwing cartoonists thread. in summary: new job, not at desk all day, anxiety level still too high to pay much attention to politics or post about it, etc.

"Thatchers" HAHAHAHAHAHA

I haven't bought the book, but from looking at it in the bookstore, it is dancing back and forth across the thin line that separates brilliant and cheezy. I'm a bit more excited about the audio version, I guess. Though the stickers look nice.

haha "Stephen Colbert Award for Literary Excellence"

Shakey Mo Collier, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 16:06 (eighteen years ago)

"for THE Literary Excellence," no less.

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 16:08 (eighteen years ago)

I love when he had O'Reilly on and held up Bill's book, and there was a big "30% off" sticker over his face.

schwantz, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 16:10 (eighteen years ago)

"but if you're an act, then what am I?" = best zing ever

Shakey Mo Collier, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 16:14 (eighteen years ago)

I want this even though it's not his 700 page sci-fi epic he keeps holding up on his show.

The last Tek Jansen cartoon from last season (before they started going into his origin story) made me asphyxiate and die from laughing too hard. It was like 80% v. complicated backstory and then one minute of plot advancement.

Oh my god you are going to make me poop.

Abbott, Monday, 22 October 2007 22:11 (eighteen years ago)

that's not to say I don't enjoy colbert and stewart but they seem to be in a rut. I still laugh at "Ask Mr. Language Person" columns, too

El Tomboto, Monday, 22 October 2007 22:13 (eighteen years ago)

I was really not looking forward to the pres bid but I am totally pleased with how he's approaching it. He picked a curious and winnable goal, and he's already "brought to light" how you basically need to through some money at the parties to get on their ballot. Which is something most of the people on this thread presumably knew but it qualifies as something closer to "reporting" than most news shows do.

If he gets a delegate in each convention, will it be a first?

Casuistry, Monday, 22 October 2007 22:25 (eighteen years ago)

Also I listened to the audiobook and was underwhelmed.

Casuistry, Monday, 22 October 2007 22:25 (eighteen years ago)

The book was a bit of a disappointment, tru 'nuff.

Abbott, Monday, 22 October 2007 22:32 (eighteen years ago)

Anybody watch the guy on Russert on sunday?

kingfish, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 05:04 (eighteen years ago)

That was decent.

Casuistry, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 08:26 (eighteen years ago)

The Larry Craig bit was too obviously set up beforehand, though.

Casuistry, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 08:26 (eighteen years ago)

Colbert won't be running in South Carolina.

I think its kinda bullshit that a candidate can be kept from running because of the whim of a committee. I was hoping for more humor out of this.

as we've seen from their venomous Nader-blaming, Democrats -- are not democratic.
