Cher's finest moment, Norman Jewison's too (maybe). Discuss?

It's about 15 minutes too long. Nicolas Cage was never dopier, hairier, hence sexier.

more classic than dud

this was the year The Last Emperor won just about everything. people will watch Moonstruck. i can't imagine anyone will ever choose to watch TLE ever again!

"totally read this - twice! - as Joanna Newsom??!!!"

not only that but i clicked on this thread while confusing it with Moonlighting.

jed_, Friday, 21 September 2007 01:53 (eighteen years ago)

Ah here we go, good old IMDB boards. Glenn Close was beaten to the punch by Cher. Hmm. Yeah i can see why people got narked.

pisces, Friday, 21 September 2007 09:48 (eighteen years ago)

It's the only film I've ever walked out of. Putney Cannon, Sept 1987!

Dr.C, Friday, 21 September 2007 09:54 (eighteen years ago)

I can only remember Nick Cage and his one hand. She was also pretty good in Mermaids, but not as good me thinks. I do strongly believe that Cher must have been better in Witches of Eastwick. But I'm deliriously cold ridden and sleep deprived, so don't take my word for it.

"aw, ma, i love him awful!"

lauren, Friday, 21 September 2007 12:16 (eighteen years ago)

good old john patrick shanley. i played tony aronica in "savage in limbo" for a student theatre group once. he gives you so much scenery to chew on, it was awesome. also, from wikipedia,

"He is famous for insisting in his contract that not a single word can be changed in the screenplays that he writes."

Too cute by a half. The John Mahoney-Olympia Dukakis scenes are the best. Among his movie scripts I prefer Five Corners.

Dr Morbius, Friday, 21 September 2007 13:25 (eighteen years ago)

John Mahoney doesn't bellow or wear a wifebeater like Nicolas Cage does.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Friday, 21 September 2007 13:31 (eighteen years ago)

that you know of.

Surmounter, Monday, 10 December 2007 17:30 (eighteen years ago)

I'll say classic. Some nice shots of Brooklyn, as well. I love the old man with the dogs.

Alex in NYC, Monday, 10 December 2007 17:36 (eighteen years ago)

def

Surmounter, Monday, 10 December 2007 17:36 (eighteen years ago)

Not a word I like to use very often but... heartwarming. :)

kenan, Monday, 10 December 2007 17:39 (eighteen years ago)

"old man, you give those dogs another piece of my food and i'm gonna kick you 'til you're dead!"

lauren, Monday, 10 December 2007 17:39 (eighteen years ago)

yes!! olympia d is so great.

it is heartwarming.

Surmounter, Monday, 10 December 2007 17:39 (eighteen years ago)

and yes, Nick Cage with his crazy hair and his wife beater, throwing aside the whole table, shouting "SON OF A BITCH!", then picking Cher up and carrying her to the bed... hot. Come on, you gotta admit that's hot. Especially since he's so goofy and nuts. Brando, he ain't, but he knows how to carry a woman to a bed fo sho.

kenan, Monday, 10 December 2007 17:41 (eighteen years ago)

completely hot.

Surmounter, Monday, 10 December 2007 17:41 (eighteen years ago)

What is life? They say bread is life. And I bake bread, bread, bread. And I sweat, and shovel this stinkin' dough in and out of this hot hole in the wall, and I should be SO HAPPY! Huh?! Sweetie?!

kenan, Monday, 10 December 2007 17:44 (eighteen years ago)

haha

Surmounter, Monday, 10 December 2007 17:45 (eighteen years ago)

His big half-sensical speeches are just brilliant.

kenan, Monday, 10 December 2007 17:47 (eighteen years ago)

this isn't a completely failed movie but it's a bit of a mess. there should also be an equivalent term for "paddywhackery" for Italian people because this is perhaps the peak of that

Temporary Erogenous Zone (jim in vancouver), Tuesday, 18 August 2020 21:47 (five years ago)

danny aiello's character is remarkably sanguine about his gf and his brother being betrothed at the end

also he's just been in Italy because his mother is dying but his brother literally says nothing about his dying mother throughout the movie
