Some guy stopped me on one of my runs once just to ask me if I had a light. Now he was definitely a douchebag.

Setting Walgreens. A clerk is helping a customer. Another customer is waiting impatiently in line.
Clerk: That will be $3.50.
Customer #1: (struggles with wallet) Okay let me just get that out.
Customer #2: (unable to contain himself any longer) Hey do you know what aisle I can find the douchebags at? (works best when you imagine said at maximum volume)
Clerk: (attempting to take Customer #1's money--who is nearly on the floor in hysterics--and process this question) . . . erm aisle 5, I think.

I saw a woman smoking in front of a hospital once. She was clearly in labor. That seems a lot worse than smoking and then running to me. It's all relative!

20 min of running feels like more exercise than 20 min of biking.

by the time you're in labor it probably doesn't matter anymore

Biking can be hard on the wrists and I'd rather save those.

Anyway if I think about form and circular motion & stuff, then running doesn't feel too bad on my knees.

Do you have straight handlebars or those curved ones? The latter seem like they would be better for your wrists but I never got used to them.

Caution, if you go too fast, flaming detritus will hit you in the eye.

Which may make you fall off your bike, which is hard on your knees and ankles and wrists.

well, wear protective eyewear. i have traditional road/track bars, yes, the curved ones.

cycling and drumming are interrelated for me. both employ similar physics/motion of the limbs and conserving energy. you can apply a moeller stroke method to your pedal stroke.

Context: my 20 yr old Bianchi girl's bike is currently locked to a pole somewhere, waiting for me to rescue it and replace the tires & rusty chain

Cutty, that's exactly how I feel about running! I think of the leg motions the same why I think about hitting a drum, like circles instead of just focusing on the point of impact.

Really even girls shoudln't ride girl bikes, except I keep 1967 townie for when skirts are req.

I had to regain the art of riding without hands after overhaul of janky headset, and my one brake is on the drop, so I haven't explored smoking & riding yet.

you know who's a douchebag? the guy who, when i was smoking on the street, walked by with a bunch of his friends and literally REACHED OVER AND PLUCKED THE CIGARATTE FROM MY MOUTH, and walked away!! i have never been so humiliated in my life but i grudgingly admire his cheek
