a douchebag.

If he'd carried on smoking the cigarette while running, then not a douchebag.

ledge, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:03 (eighteen years ago)

a little counter productive but i don’t see how this necessarily make him a douchebag

carne asada, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:05 (eighteen years ago)

i've never seen the pre-run smoke, but i have seen the immediate-post-workout cigarrette.

gabbneb, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:05 (eighteen years ago)

Maybe you saw his very last cigarette!

Turning over a new leaf, running instead of smoking, etc.

en i see kay, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:05 (eighteen years ago)

did he throw the butt at you when he was finished?

carne asada, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:06 (eighteen years ago)

where is the "OMG HERO" option?

jhøshea, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:06 (eighteen years ago)

start yr own counter poll

Mr. Que, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:07 (eighteen years ago)

tho OMG hero could be included in the "not a douchebag" column

Mr. Que, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:07 (eighteen years ago)

kinda negative if u ax me

jhøshea, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:08 (eighteen years ago)

Some guy stopped me on one of my runs once just to ask me if I had a light. Now he was definitely a douchebag.

NickB, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:09 (eighteen years ago)

SMOKING + RUNNING COUNTER-POLL

Mr. Que, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:13 (eighteen years ago)

not a douchebag
tho ledge kinda OTM - running while smoking = even more not a douchebag

blueski, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:17 (eighteen years ago)

my poll has a OMG HERO option

jhøshea, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:19 (eighteen years ago)

running while smoking = OMG HERO

ledge, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:19 (eighteen years ago)

yeah he missed the hero trick

blueski, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:20 (eighteen years ago)

running while smoking cigar = ZOMG EMPEROR

blueski, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:21 (eighteen years ago)

I have been the ZOMG EMPEROR before

El Tomboto, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:22 (eighteen years ago)

it's the shorts, running shoes, and ipod headphones that make him a douchebag.

ghost rider, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:23 (eighteen years ago)

i has seen a guy in full gear ie spandex lil hat etc smoking a cigar while riding bike

jhøshea, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:23 (eighteen years ago)

if you run you kinda need shorts and running shoes

jhøshea, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:24 (eighteen years ago)

BTW, people who smoke=not douchebags.

just want to make myself clear.

Mr. Que, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:24 (eighteen years ago)

i has seen a guy in full gear ie spandex lil hat etc smoking a cigar while riding bike

i take my nacho hat off to them

blueski, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:24 (eighteen years ago)

what's wrong with wearing clothes comfortable for running while you do it?

not the healthiest, but not a douchebag.

Maria, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:45 (eighteen years ago)

running should never be done without exigent circumstances, it is a ridiculous pastime and bad for your knees

El Tomboto, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:46 (eighteen years ago)

BICICYLES: THEY HAVE BEEN INVENTED

El Tomboto, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:46 (eighteen years ago)

does getting fat count?

Mr. Que, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:48 (eighteen years ago)

bycucles: they lead to nowhere but repulsive gear fetishism

(actually i really love to ride my bike - dont be mad guys)

jhøshea, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:49 (eighteen years ago)

i see a lot of people biking and smoking!
i get it now

rrrobyn, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:49 (eighteen years ago)

running gear way cooler then biking gear tho

carne asada, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:49 (eighteen years ago)

i love my bike as well.

Mr. Que, Friday, 21 September 2007 15:49 (eighteen years ago)

Conversation relayed to me by a friend:

Setting Walgreens. A clerk is helping a customer. Another customer is waiting impatiently in line.
Clerk: That will be $3.50.
Customer #1: (struggles with wallet) Okay let me just get that out.
Customer #2: (unable to contain himself any longer) Hey do you know what aisle I can find the douchebags at? (works best when you imagine said at maximum volume)
Clerk: (attempting to take Customer #1's money--who is nearly on the floor in hysterics--and process this question) . . . erm aisle 5, I think.
Customer #2: (suddenly seemingly aware that asking where douchebags are in a BOOMING voice might make him a wee bit conspicuous) uh thanks. (Customer #2 slinks off.)

I saw a woman smoking in front of a hospital once. She was clearly in labor. That seems a lot worse than smoking and then running to me. It's all relative!

Sara R-C, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:01 (eighteen years ago)

HAHA smoking while in labor! That's awesome.

Alex in SF, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:06 (eighteen years ago)

Jimmy Saville: Not a douchebag.

NickB, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:07 (eighteen years ago)

Okay, yes he is a douchebag.

NickB, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:07 (eighteen years ago)

20 min of running feels like more exercise than 20 min of biking.

Jordan, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:11 (eighteen years ago)

by the time you're in labor it probably doesn't matter anymore

El Tomboto, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:11 (eighteen years ago)

that would be because 20 minutes of running causes a lot more wear and tear!

El Tomboto, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:11 (eighteen years ago)

What, besides the knees thing?

Jordan, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:14 (eighteen years ago)

ankles, too

Mr. Que, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:14 (eighteen years ago)

pretty much everything suffers when you repeatedly smash it up and down on the pavement

El Tomboto, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:15 (eighteen years ago)

tom is correct

cutty, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:16 (eighteen years ago)

and it depends how you spend that 20 minutes of biking

cutty, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:16 (eighteen years ago)

stop walking

gabbneb, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:16 (eighteen years ago)

Biking can be hard on the wrists and I'd rather save those.

Jordan, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:17 (eighteen years ago)

Anyway if I think about form and circular motion & stuff, then running doesn't feel too bad on my knees.

Jordan, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:18 (eighteen years ago)

jordan i'm a drummer who cycles everyday and i've never had a wrist problem

cutty, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:19 (eighteen years ago)

SMOKING + BIKING = classic, best done while biking to and from a bar.
SMOKING + RUNNING = I don't run, so suxor.

John Justen, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:19 (eighteen years ago)

Do you have straight handlebars or those curved ones? The latter seem like they would be better for your wrists but I never got used to them.

Jordan, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:20 (eighteen years ago)

Caution, if you go too fast, flaming detritus will hit you in the eye.

John Justen, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:20 (eighteen years ago)

Which may make you fall off your bike, which is hard on your knees and ankles and wrists.

John Justen, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:21 (eighteen years ago)

well, wear protective eyewear. i have traditional road/track bars, yes, the curved ones.

cutty, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:23 (eighteen years ago)

john justen so otm

ghost rider, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:24 (eighteen years ago)

cycling and drumming are interrelated for me. both employ similar physics/motion of the limbs and conserving energy. you can apply a moeller stroke method to your pedal stroke.

cutty, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:24 (eighteen years ago)

Context: my 20 yr old Bianchi girl's bike is currently locked to a pole somewhere, waiting for me to rescue it and replace the tires & rusty chain

(but I did just borrow a friend's bike rack so I can do it)

Jordan, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:25 (eighteen years ago)

collision detection

El Tomboto, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:25 (eighteen years ago)

Cutty, that's exactly how I feel about running! I think of the leg motions the same why I think about hitting a drum, like circles instead of just focusing on the point of impact.

Jordan, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:26 (eighteen years ago)

please don't ride a girl's bike

cutty, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:26 (eighteen years ago)

Really even girls shoudln't ride girl bikes, except I keep 1967 townie for when skirts are req.

Laurel, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:28 (eighteen years ago)

I had to regain the art of riding without hands after overhaul of janky headset, and my one brake is on the drop, so I haven't explored smoking & riding yet.

Laurel, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:30 (eighteen years ago)

Girls bikes are U+K for maximum testes protection.

This probably isn't true, but puts me at ease.

en i see kay, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:30 (eighteen years ago)

I don't know him.

roxymuzak, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:31 (eighteen years ago)

He could be extremely hilarious!

roxymuzak, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:31 (eighteen years ago)

you know who's a douchebag? the guy who, when i was smoking on the street, walked by with a bunch of his friends and literally REACHED OVER AND PLUCKED THE CIGARATTE FROM MY MOUTH, and walked away!! i have never been so humiliated in my life but i grudgingly admire his cheek

Tracer Hand, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:36 (eighteen years ago)

girl bikes vs. girl jeans

Jordan, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:37 (eighteen years ago)

xpost
you should have tased him

carne asada, Friday, 21 September 2007 16:37 (eighteen years ago)

i used to play baseball while smoking

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Friday, 21 September 2007 18:42 (eighteen years ago)

All these men on a soccer team in my town take smoke breaks. And are megahot.

roxymuzak, Friday, 21 September 2007 19:02 (eighteen years ago)

i think i'm going to get a girl's bike, they don't get stolen as much.

Tracer Hand, Friday, 21 September 2007 22:39 (eighteen years ago)

Tracer, I don't care what kind of bike you get, everyone including the L.M.E. will be delighted to see you on two wheels.

Laurel, Friday, 21 September 2007 22:59 (eighteen years ago)
