He can mime "trapped in a wooden box" then.

Noodle Vague, Sunday, 23 September 2007 10:46 (eighteen years ago)

Nyuck nyuck nyuck.

RIP - saw him perform just a few years ago and fucked if he still wasn't incredibly entertaining even in his later years.

I'm speechless.

Dom Passantino, Sunday, 23 September 2007 12:06 (eighteen years ago)

T'would be great if the funeral service was conducted in mime

Tom D., Sunday, 23 September 2007 12:20 (eighteen years ago)

I heard this on the radio this morning, I was so surprised he was still alive so recently. He seems like someone from such a long time ago. Anyway, RIP.

I know, right?, Sunday, 23 September 2007 12:28 (eighteen years ago)

anyone else assume he'd died years ago?

Yeah. I don't know why, but I'd have guessed he'd been born ca. 1900 and died in the '70s.

When I think of Marcel Marceau, I mostly think about a lithograph my dad made when he was younger of Marcel Marceau's face arranged four times in orange and green, like a Warhol painting.

jaymc, Sunday, 23 September 2007 16:01 (eighteen years ago)

I saw him perform as well, only a few years ago at the Westport Country Playhouse. Brilliant, lovely man.

I thought of the same thing...

Mark G, Monday, 24 September 2007 08:21 (eighteen years ago)

he made at least one album. which just has audience reaction on it.

Dr Morbius, Monday, 24 September 2007 13:27 (eighteen years ago)

Was John Cage involved in the project?

"Silence... is appropriate... and it will remain.... appropriate"

nine years pass...

“Jesse Eisenberg will play the legendary mime Marcel Marceau in Resistance, a feature that will focus on his involvement in the French resistance during the Second World War,” reports Screen’s Jeremy Kay. Jonathan Jakubowicz (Hands of Stone) “will direct from his screenplay."

oh god not another mediocre feelgood holocaust movie. Django Reinhardt got caught sneaking over the French border by a Nazi commander who was such a fan he spared him the one-way ticket to the nearest killing-centre, such humanity!

calzino, Wednesday, 24 May 2017 22:16 (eight years ago)

The Arcades Stroller, the feel good story of Walter Benjamin.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 24 May 2017 22:22 (eight years ago)

well it's Spielberg's fault for making the best feelgood Holocaust movie
