Chuck Woolery This Legendary game show host originally set his sights on music but joined the U.S. Navy instead. Woolery studied economics and sociology at Morehead State University and after college, this Kentucky native worked as a wine consultant and sales rep at Pillsbury.
Still a music lover, Woolery went to Nashville and formed the band 'Avant Garde.' They soon landed on the Top 40 charts with the song Naturally Stoned, which Woolery wrote and produced.
Chuck Woolery landed his first role as Mr. Dingle on THE NEW ZOO REVIEW a syndicated TV series for children.
But it was a guest appearance on "The Merv Griffin Show" that triggered Woolery's career as a game show host. After the show, Griffin invited him to audition for a newly created game show called WHEEL OF FORTUNE (1975). Woolery's seven-year run as host earned him critical praise plus an Emmy Award nod for Best Host of a Game Show. Known to TV viewers as host of LOVE CONNECTION, he established the infamous "Back in two and two."
