Though of course part of perceived celebrity hotness comes from knowing their work. I love Marc Almond's music and I can't separate that from his image, whereas to me this Cumming fellow is just some bloke.

I couldn't make it through his autobiography. He has such a flat way of writing that make what should be outrageous comes across as quite dull.

Plus I ended up sympathising with the record company for having such a difficult artist in the Soft Cell days.

He has some fantastic songs in his back catalogue and I'm sure in say 20 -30 years he'll be re-evaluated as a great songwriter. He's not always the best interpreter of his own work though...

I noticed that they have that autobiography in the local library, so I'll be borrowing it today. Will report back.

I don't find Marc Almond remotely hot now, but there was something kind of sultry and dangerous and decadent about him back in the day (when I was 12 and people being gay was kind of exciting).

The only song of his I can call to mind is that one about bedsit land. Otherwise, all the stuff of his I know is his interpretations of other people's songs. Which are often great.

I'm quite fascinated by his seemingly dichotomic look: on the one hand he has this babyface but on the other hand he also has these wicked tats. But would I ever feel sexually aroused by him? No, I rather hump a 300 year old tree than have him in close proximity.

Alan Cumming's arse has been postered around Scotland a lot recently (that's the publicity pic for the National Theatre's production of the Bacchae). I also had the pleasure of seeing it in the flesh because at the start of the play he is hanging upside down, wearing this kilt.

Well, I guess Scotland in general is further from the Earth's centre too. It's called Highlands, isn't it?

Actually, seeing as the Earth is very slightly flattened (owing to its rotation), the further away from the equator you go, the nearer the centre you are.

Though I guess it's possible that Calum lives in the lowes spot of Scotland and Marc Almond in the highest spot of England.
