Sunny S: the quietest baby ever, in her day

In Australia if you cried too loud they let you play with the dingoes.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 15:34 (eighteen years ago)

I don't think so, no.

Grandpont Genie, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 15:35 (eighteen years ago)

Everything is louder, now, than it used to be.

SHUT UP, EVERYTHING!

Oilyrags, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 16:34 (eighteen years ago)

I don't think they're necessarily louder, I just think there are more of them, and in more places they wouldn't have been 20 years ago.

luna, Wednesday, 26 September 2007 18:23 (eighteen years ago)

I find the loudness of children depends on how they are incited.

Most ilxors were children 20 years ago.

Oilyrags, Thursday, 27 September 2007 00:18 (eighteen years ago)

As was I - the point was more that there are more kids around these days, and people take them more places than they used to - 20 years was just a number plucked out of thin air.

Is it a boomlet now? I think it was 20-30 years ago. I'm not mister demographics.

Oilyrags, Thursday, 27 September 2007 00:22 (eighteen years ago)

i'm not really struck by the pervasiveness of children, just kind of the sheer volume they generate in their native habitats. like children in the playground, or teenagers on the bus. i mean, i'm sure we were loud as kids (i can remember disapproving looks at the community pool), but modern youth seems louder.

maybe it's all the compression in their devil music. but probably it's just that i'm old.

mookieproof, Thursday, 27 September 2007 00:32 (eighteen years ago)

I think you get acclimated to the din of children if you are around them constantly. If not, they do seem LAUD.

Abbott, Thursday, 27 September 2007 00:36 (eighteen years ago)

if more spoiled means also louder, trying to get what they want by shouting and crying it out loud - yes they are

Zeno, Thursday, 27 September 2007 01:24 (eighteen years ago)

After 20 hours on planes in the last 10 days or so, I'm going to vote yes also.

Rock Hardy, Thursday, 27 September 2007 01:31 (eighteen years ago)

I have to assume so. I live adjacent to an elementary school, and what used to be recess has now apparently become Scream Time. I'm seriously thinking that, when I was a kid, if even one kid had screamed as loudly and incessantly as seemingly all of the kids scream nowadays, he or she would've been in loads of trouble.

I think the people in charge have given up on being in charge. I'm sure this bodes well for our future. Wheeeee.</fogey>
