10 razors for a quid. last me a year. awesomeness,

Upt0eleven, Thursday, 27 September 2007 09:28 (eighteen years ago)

All of the above. Well, except for razors, I'm not that stubbly. BUt if I had to choose, then pens it is.

nathalie, Thursday, 27 September 2007 09:28 (eighteen years ago)

Pens, although I find they do seem to suddenly dry out for no reason, even if there's plenty of ink still inside.

snoball, Thursday, 27 September 2007 09:49 (eighteen years ago)

Pens. There's no excuse for disposable razors or lighters really. I'm always losing pens well before they run out though, so it'd def. be more wasteful to keep buying Parkers or something.

NickB, Thursday, 27 September 2007 09:53 (eighteen years ago)

I'm not excusing the razors, I'm lauding raptorous praise 'pon dem.

Upt0eleven, Thursday, 27 September 2007 09:58 (eighteen years ago)

The pen is mightier than the, uhhhhhhhh, razor, uhhhhhhh, stroke lighter

Tom D., Thursday, 27 September 2007 10:06 (eighteen years ago)

I love their little dude...

kv_nol, Thursday, 27 September 2007 10:08 (eighteen years ago)

What the heck is up with his head though? Is it a Residents tribute? Or is he trapped inside a bowling ball?

NickB, Thursday, 27 September 2007 10:13 (eighteen years ago)

Pens!
One of the first things I did when I earnt some money was go and buy a whole box of bics. I was such a geek.

Ned Trifle II, Thursday, 27 September 2007 10:18 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Sunday, 30 September 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

There was a BIC boycott in the nineties because the family that owns the company was using it's winnings to support Front National. I'm not sure if this is still the case.

Tuomas, Sunday, 30 September 2007 23:19 (eighteen years ago)

Bic razors == terrible. Maybe not the worst, but close.

20 for $0.99 Bic pens == CLASSIC!

Matt, Monday, 1 October 2007 00:06 (eighteen years ago)

Medium-point-em-up, yo.

libcrypt, Monday, 1 October 2007 00:44 (eighteen years ago)

i have three (3) bic® pens resting on keyboard right now. one black, one blue, one blue w/ missing lid. classic.

haitch, Monday, 1 October 2007 00:48 (eighteen years ago)

I've gone over to the dark side of gel roller-ball pens; I've carried one red and one blue to like three different jobs now. The very same ones -- they refill, which I also love.

And no bic razor is getting anywhere like my shower, I'd rather turn furry (and have) than let those giant plastic razor heads near me.

Lighters, on the other hand, are prime for losing esp when yr drunk! So I vote.

Laurel, Monday, 1 October 2007 00:52 (eighteen years ago)

the only available brand of single blade razors in my locality

Heave Ho, Monday, 1 October 2007 01:04 (eighteen years ago)

i think each of these items are pretty much garbage.

gff, Monday, 1 October 2007 01:06 (eighteen years ago)

Wait, why no Bic® markers, pencils, glues, or correction tapes??????

libcrypt, Monday, 1 October 2007 01:10 (eighteen years ago)

What a Bic® charade this poll is!

libcrypt, Monday, 1 October 2007 01:12 (eighteen years ago)

I think Bic® man's head is supposed to be the ball in the ball-point pen, what with the ball-point being the novel mindblowing selling point when the pens were first made. I love his little schoolboy knee bumps.

Abbott, Monday, 1 October 2007 05:00 (eighteen years ago)

The razors are absolute garbage

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Monday, 1 October 2007 05:36 (eighteen years ago)

They will cut you and you will bleed.

en i see kay, Monday, 1 October 2007 05:41 (eighteen years ago)

Lighters after using yr keys to remove the child protection = where it's at.

en i see kay, Monday, 1 October 2007 05:41 (eighteen years ago)

i use the lighters to open cd wrappings, among many other things. if you dont use bic razors, wtf do you use??? serious question.

their pens are pretty much crap, as all know; i havent really used anything other than swiped hotel pins (yeah, similar quality, but free) for years now & i cant recall the kind i preferred in high school. they were fine point & made a scratchy sound which bics obviously dont do. felt very refined.

im torn b/w the razors & the lighters as i never use anything else.

deeznuts, Monday, 1 October 2007 06:03 (eighteen years ago)

ok i just checked my razors & theyre gilette's. for some reason i have spent my entire life thinking these were bics.

lighters it is.

deeznuts, Monday, 1 October 2007 06:15 (eighteen years ago)

bid lighter deserves my vote twice because it not only ignites my smokables but also opens my bottled beers

elmo argonaut, Monday, 1 October 2007 13:25 (eighteen years ago)

elmo argonaut, Monday, 1 October 2007 13:27 (eighteen years ago)

sanskrit, Monday, 1 October 2007 14:29 (eighteen years ago)

i always thought bic was one of those interesting/weird companies since they made such widely different products... poll should have included their surfboards and sailboats, which are quite good!

other companies with a diverse product range: yamaha - music instruments, electronics, motorcycles, kitchens, golf equipment...

Rob Bolton, Monday, 1 October 2007 14:34 (eighteen years ago)

Sainsbury's: Beer, confectionary, detergent, car insurance...

lots of japanese companies come to mind - mitsubushi have a disturbing array of businesses

Rob Bolton, Monday, 1 October 2007 14:47 (eighteen years ago)

baby purple bic lighter = a+

tehresa, Monday, 1 October 2007 15:12 (eighteen years ago)

Bic lighters light smokes, open beer bottles, AND make for much more valuable bartering tokens 3 days into a camping trip than pens or razors.

nickalicious, Monday, 1 October 2007 18:58 (eighteen years ago)

Although I guess that depends on what kind of a camping trip it is.

nickalicious, Monday, 1 October 2007 18:59 (eighteen years ago)

Hey, if you can manage to use these instruments of terror without it looking like you shaved with a lint roller covered in shards of glass, I say more power to you.

Yeah, it's quite hard to find info on the subject, because if you google "BIC boycott", most of the results are American pages telling you to boycott all things French. But I'm pretty sure it was revealed in the 90s that the family which own BIC were supporters of Le Pen and had donated money for Front National. Obviously this is something they'd most likely want to keep hushed down.
