Try some vitamin K gel - it helps strengthen the underlying capillaries. It's also good for helping bruises heal faster and reducing redness.

My girlfriend uses some Japanese stuff called DHC or something, she swears by it. It is like patches she sleeps with.

Hey Jaq does that gel have any known effect on burst capillaries? I have tons in my face and I'd love to get them to go away :/
― Trayce, Friday, 28 September 2007 04:24 (eighteen years ago)
yeah, i don't have bags - i just look like a terminal liver case

Funny you should ask this, I was going to ask the same thing. I have puffiness under one of my eyes - the skin actually looks blistered and I have tiny patches of rough dead skin under one eye and on the eyelid. I'm putting it down to rubbing my eye too much due to lack of sleep and mild bouts of conjunctivitis, but my regular moisturiser isn't doing much to rehydrate the skin.

Ice Cream works, that much I know.
― Pete, Friday, 28 September 2007 08:59 (eighteen years ago)
Don't know about burst capillaries Trayce, but it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. It does work well on bruises, which I think are partly about broken capillaries.
I've seen those DHC things in their catalog - they look interesting, but it would be weird to sleep with stuff glued to my face I think.

i fucking love eye creams
every day
― Surmounter, Friday, 28 September 2007 17:23 (eighteen years ago)
i mean the long term effects are good but even just putting some eye cream on with undereye makeup - so nice. creates a creamy, glowing, light look
― Surmounter, Friday, 28 September 2007 17:24 (eighteen years ago)
i use an eyecream but it is more to prevent wrinkles than reduce dark circles. i haven't found anything that works for that other than cover-up.
― bell_labs, Friday, 28 September 2007 17:27 (eighteen years ago)
maybelline concealer is good for undereye, blends pretty smooth
― Surmounter, Friday, 28 September 2007 17:36 (eighteen years ago)
i hear good things about touche eclat.
― bell_labs, Friday, 28 September 2007 17:42 (eighteen years ago)
yeah, most if not all creams are about wrinkles/bags. hylexin is the only thing i can think of that's actually marketed as being for dark circles.
xpost touche eclat irritates my eyes, and even for a pale person such as myself i think it's a bit light. i use dior's highlighting pen, which i LOVE.
― lauren, Friday, 28 September 2007 17:43 (eighteen years ago)
(benefit's stuff is pretty good, too, but mine dried up really quickly.)
― lauren, Friday, 28 September 2007 17:44 (eighteen years ago)
yeah dior skinflash is pretty nice!
― bell_labs, Friday, 28 September 2007 17:45 (eighteen years ago)
touche eclat is nice. i started using a kiehl's eye cream mostly as preventative, starting to see a very few fine lines.. but i'm almost 30 so i guess that happens
― daria-g, Friday, 28 September 2007 17:47 (eighteen years ago)
i've been using a vichy cream, which is nice enough and very moisturizing, but my next purchase is going to be la roche posay's redermic. i used a sample packet of it this week, and i can already see a difference.
― lauren, Friday, 28 September 2007 17:51 (eighteen years ago)
i use mario badescu hyaluronic eye cream which seems to work well enough. it's less expensive than most (under $20 bucks) and seems to work as well as some of the fancier ones.
― bell_labs, Friday, 28 September 2007 17:52 (eighteen years ago)
i, too, have this problem.
― elmo argonaut, Friday, 28 September 2007 17:57 (eighteen years ago)
the clairins/clinique ones i've tried have done absolutely nothing for me.
― bell_labs, Friday, 28 September 2007 17:58 (eighteen years ago)
hylexin == $99 for a tube == scam city

I don't mind the underside of my eyes being all bluey-purple, except it makes my boyfriend ask "ARE YOU OKAY? LOOK AT YOUR EYES!" on bad days.

I have freakishly dark shadows in the inner bit of my eye socket i.e. either side of my nose. You can't notice it from the front but from the side or a certain angle it looks like I've smudged eye shadow there. Anyone else have this? I tried Hylexin (got a cheapish sample off internet, although tbh it could have been any old crap in a pot) and it did nothing. Have Touche Eclat which is OK for under eyes but if I try and use coverup on the dark circles I look like Michael Jackson.
God I sound hideous...
― Not the real Village People, Friday, 28 September 2007 23:22 (eighteen years ago)
lol nooo
i have more darkness there too. it's good to get at it with cream/concealer WITH A Q TIP
