Going back and reading your old posts from years and years ago -- classic or dud?

I'm sitting in an internet cafe/coffee shop on University Place and combing through Monster.Com and Media Bistro for job leads (`cos I'm an unemployed bum at the moment), and I'm staving off depression by trawling around ILM/ILE. I took most of 2006 and the first half of `07 off from the proceedings when my then new and seemingly promising job took up most of my time, but I'm astounded by the sheer volume of comments I posted between 2001 and the tail end of 2005. My job at the time had me working two overnight shifts a week, which explains some of it I suppose. But really. Why didn't more people tell me to shut up and go get a life?

ugh.

So, so dud.

Misery, Monday, 1 October 2007 14:03 (seventeen years ago)

King Boy Pato, Monday, 1 October 2007 14:16 (seventeen years ago)

I might have been a more interesting poster a few years ago but in a train-wreck fashion. Do not want.

Misery, Monday, 1 October 2007 14:20 (seventeen years ago)

shut up and go get a life, everyone.

darraghmac, Monday, 1 October 2007 14:20 (seventeen years ago)

Pleasant Plains, Monday, 1 October 2007 18:51 (seventeen years ago)

It's kind of jarring, esp. since the oldest ones were from when I was 17. I started a thread about how much I hated hacky sacks that I am kind of afraid to revisit.

Abbott, Monday, 1 October 2007 18:52 (seventeen years ago)

I love rereading my old posts because there was usually some insanely funny shit surrounding them.

HI DERE, Monday, 1 October 2007 18:54 (seventeen years ago)

There's never anything wrong with hating hacky sacks.

Pleasant Plains, Monday, 1 October 2007 19:02 (seventeen years ago)

No, but I discuss my horrible first boyfriend who only played hacky sack (and later disc golf)...he is a man I do not care to think about. My hatred for the game has only burned hotter over the years.

Abbott, Monday, 1 October 2007 19:03 (seventeen years ago)

First three posts otm.

James Redd and the Blecchs, Monday, 1 October 2007 19:04 (seventeen years ago)

Early days I had some pre-ILX life/ideas to draw on, now all I can say is otm when appropriate.

Back in 2k1 it was 1 1 2 3 5 was my user name. I was free of both letters and preconceived gender (tho most of the time no preconceived gender = everyone assumes you're a guy).

old ned post from tuomas' thread:

In America, you have the right to bear arms to shoot any family member who dares appear before you naked. You are not allowed to fuck the corpse, though.

I agree with this, it's obviouly because male has always been and still is the norm.

Tuomas, Monday, 1 October 2007 19:33 (seventeen years ago)

Dude yeah I thought so until my ding-dong went down the toilet that fateful day. I am sure it is spawning mega ding-dongs in some municipal sewer system.

Abbott, Monday, 1 October 2007 19:35 (seventeen years ago)

Is that a quote from some impromptu Lou Reed stage banter?

James Redd and the Blecchs, Monday, 1 October 2007 19:36 (seventeen years ago)

Whoa did one of my ding-dong spawn crawl into Lou Reed ala Cronenberg's "Shivers"?

Abbott, Monday, 1 October 2007 19:38 (seventeen years ago)

old ned post from tuomas' thread

One of my better contributions. The rest were all :-D, ;-), :-( and "Heavens u kill me orly" or something similar.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 1 October 2007 19:44 (seventeen years ago)

pls go to your ROCKTOBER thread on 1p3

sunny successor, Monday, 1 October 2007 19:47 (seventeen years ago)

It's something you'll enjoy reading many years and years from now.

Pleasant Plains, Monday, 1 October 2007 20:03 (seventeen years ago)

oh man, my posts here are a years-long chronicle of mental illness, with a few flashes of wit. I do not ever want to see most of it ever again.

kenan, Monday, 1 October 2007 20:07 (seventeen years ago)

x-post -- Or, right now.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 1 October 2007 20:09 (seventeen years ago)

Why didn't more people tell me to shut up and go get a life?

Because you're cranky enough already.

Rock Hardy, Monday, 1 October 2007 20:14 (seventeen years ago)

Classic nor dud really. Sometimes I cringe though, especially the ILM posts. Oh DERE oh DERE.
