Skaros v. Skaro

I know there's a lot of Dr. Who fans out there, and this issue has me particularly vexed and hopefully it can be resolved.

In the old series the Doctor uses the names Skaros and Skaro (without an end 's') interchangeably, and I presumed that the ending s was dropped in casual conversation (not that talking about Daleks is usually very casual on the show)

In the new run, I've only ever hear The Doctor say "Skaro" and almost as if there's a 'w' at the end - like "Skarow."

The Wikipedia says Skaros, but I don't know how trusty it is on pop culture matters. What say you, oh WHO NERDS OF ILX???

Also, I need to know this because I am starting a galactic empire web game and I want to name my home planet correctly. Galefrey (sp?) is almost always taken on these games but other Whoniverse planets aren't...

seriously, no one here knows the answer? Abbott told me that this place was filled with Dr. Who obsessios, are the Brits just asleep right now or something??

As far as I know it's always been Skaro. But you might want to consider getting excited about something that fucking matters.

the proper terms and terminology of fictional universes matter a great deal.

This thread title sounds like one fucking awesome Supreme Court case.

whadyatalkinbout Viceroy?

It's always Skaro! Skároš ({Hungarian: Eszkáros) is a village and municipality in Košice-okolie District in the Kosice Region of eastern Slovakia!

But you might want to consider getting excited about something that fucking matters.

Being excited about things that don't matter and being excited about things that do are not mutually exclusive. I am excited about forthcoming election and the fact that I have some macaroons cooking in the oven.

Actually I'm not sure which of those matters more...

your belly's sure!

Grandpont Genie, Thursday, 4 October 2007 08:55 (eighteen years ago)

Aye, it's Skaro - there are a couple of dialogue stumbles, maybe, but no contradictions as obvious as Kaled/Dal in the first story. Although you might want to read up far more on Dalek history to find out exactly which Skaro you're talking about (as in the one which was destroyed, or the one that wasn't, and when the setting is in relation to Genesis).

You don't want to start this sort of thing, really, but at least it's easier to understand than Cyberfactions.

It's always been Skaro, as far as I know.

HI DERE, Thursday, 4 October 2007 10:49 (eighteen years ago)

It is always Skaro. I know not this Skaros. Maybe you are thinking of Skarroth of the Jaggaroth.
