Londoners?
― Ronan, Thursday, 4 October 2007 13:14 (eighteen years ago)
Extra few grand on your salary for living in London with its attendant insane rent/transport costs?
― That mong guy that's shit, Thursday, 4 October 2007 13:15 (eighteen years ago)
Not enough.
― Pete W, Thursday, 4 October 2007 13:15 (eighteen years ago)
^^ seconded.
― marianna lcl, Thursday, 4 October 2007 13:23 (eighteen years ago)
It's too much. People need to be incentivized to move out of London.
― Alba, Thursday, 4 October 2007 13:25 (eighteen years ago)
Agreed.
― blueski, Thursday, 4 October 2007 13:26 (eighteen years ago)
Alba's probably right but it's not going to happen. Meanwhile the civil service have been considering regional pay deals which will only exacerbate the pay differentials between different regions and further fuel house price inflation in already too expensive areas.

I don't think I have LPA in my job but it's complicated. I could earn a lot more as a Senior or Freelance Designer but instead am possibly overpaid re workload here (going on holiday for a week to come back to about 6 different people suddenly deciding they all want a piece of you ASAP is really challenging this long-established perception tho).
― blueski, Thursday, 4 October 2007 13:30 (eighteen years ago)
We don't get it either. Not sure how common it is in the media.
― Pete W, Thursday, 4 October 2007 13:33 (eighteen years ago)
I always assumed LPA was only relevant if the organisation had operations outside London that fell within the same pay structure. London-only businesses just pay more in the first place, innnit.
― Alba, Thursday, 4 October 2007 13:39 (eighteen years ago)
Yeah, mostly seen it mentioned for Civil Service jobs, generally £2-3000
― That mong guy that's shit, Thursday, 4 October 2007 13:41 (eighteen years ago)
I wonder how much my counterpart in Milton Keynes is on.
― blueski, Thursday, 4 October 2007 13:42 (eighteen years ago)
Yeah it's that kind of job...so this does mean I get 4k more (what it says) if I get the job?
― Ronan, Friday, 5 October 2007 14:56 (eighteen years ago)
Was it advertised as a London job? If so, probably not. It will have been factored in.
― Alba, Friday, 5 October 2007 15:01 (eighteen years ago)
the problem with incentives to get people to leave london is that nowhere else in britain is worth living in
― DG, Friday, 5 October 2007 15:02 (eighteen years ago)
yeah, london's awesome.
― That one guy that hit it and quit it, Friday, 5 October 2007 15:09 (eighteen years ago)
Yeah, it's really good.
