A robbery occurred on the 1800 block of W. Ohio on Sept. 17, police reports say. The victim, a 59-year-old retiree, told police that a twenty-something male came up to her on Ohio Street, pulled a blue steel handgun from his waistband and pointed it at her chest. He proceeded with his demands in Spanish: "Give me your chains and your rings," he said, according to the police report. The victim, fearing for her life, did as she was told, handing over a gold chain and a ring bearing an image of an elephant and an old man, the report says. The gunman was so nonchalant he didn't even flee after disbursing his victim; she told police he merely continued walking on Wolcott, eating a bag of potato chips. No arrests have been made.
