Just got sent the email referenced in this eight year old blog entry. Obviously pretty old news, but it's the first time I've heard about it. Don't know if I should post the email here, but google 'merton saville'and it's the first hit.

Obviously made up? As the writer of that blog says, it at least seems plausible, even though there's absolutely no evidence presented. maybe it's been thoroughly debunked by now, I'd be interested to know if that's the case.

Yeah, it makes sense that it's something like that. It's very well done, all the participants are written firmly in character (especially the lameness of Deayton's quips).
