They give her weird lipgloss in the opening "your Iron Chefs" shot. She's not unattractive, though.

Yeah, she seems to bumble a lot too. But maybe I think that because I am biased by my hate. I don't think she's very imaginative, either. What's her specialty?

Batali's awesome because he's like "oh, I was in Vietnam in the army and discovered the world's best sandwich but here it is I made it more awesome," just these off-the-cuff but completely surprising back stories.

Abbott, it was really good. I wrote about it for Freaky Trigger. I'd like to go back someday -- I'm less starstruck now and have had more great meals to compare it to.

They should change the show to resemble peoples actualy cooking and eating habits more. The bonus is better sponsorship opportunities.

they might be choosing, it’s just done way in advance. Because there is no way that line up is live and there has to be scheduling issues with the iron chefs that have to be worked out.

I like Morimoto the most in terms of personality and inventiveness, but he makes a lot of stuff I wouldn't personally wanna eat (Japanese cuisine in general is a tough sell for me). Flay is a douchebag - or rather, a douche saucebottle. Cora and Batali are both okay (better Batali than Emeril, ugh)

yeah they do but its done in advance. the chefs are also given a list of possible "secret ingredients" so that they can prepare some kind of menu, know which ingredients to bring, etc.

at least, that's how the Japanese version handled it.

Travel Channel probably has Bourdain tied up contractually, but he'd be great as a challenger. He also probably wouldn't do it now that he's a tv star instead of a working chef.

I know it is pretty much agreed upon that Flay is an asshole or whatever, but I disagree. But still, I would probably vote for Mario if he ran for president so I didn't have to think too hard about this.

batali landslide. even when he makes freakshow shit it still seems like something I'd want to try.

flay had better get 0 though when he & his sous team bring their a-game it can be really impressive, in the way that it is impressive when a sports team really runs up the score mercilessly on an outmatched, less-prepared opponent

cora's take on soul foods always irritates me and she really seems like a token, I think any of the other three would take her four times out of five, even though morimoto has the worst w/l record.

morimoto is the most fun to watch, but he makes the weirdest stuff and also gets the short shrift on ingredients in more matchups than the others do. I remember when he and wolfgang puck had their battle and the secret ing was fucking EGGS, like, just make a giant fish omelette and concede, this is dumb.

no this was basically awesome because A) ray + batali kicked flay/laurentiis' unholy asses B) rachel and giada both IIRC spent half the battle saying stuff like "This is hard!!!" which I found lol

but it is also Season 3 not Season 1 + 2 so stay on topic plz

I hate his show where he goes to barbecue pits and stands around in a dumb blue t-shirt with his arms folded across his chest, shooting smugness rays from his eyes onto his opponents grill, and never smiles and is douchier than the most potent lysol.
