girl coming over in t-minus 40 minutes and counting
how do i thaw frozen salmon in plastic package quickly?

deej, Thursday, 11 October 2007 00:19 (seventeen years ago)

also, any recommended salmon recipes are welcome. i would list ingredients in cabinet/fridge - it wouldn't take long - but would be embarrassing, i.e. 'barbecue sauce ... old style ... onions ...'

Put plastic package in large bowl and run room-temp water over it for, uh, several minutes.

Lawry's seasoned salt is full of seasonings, and salty. Tastes good on that which swimmeth in the water, creepeth on the ground, or flyeth in the skies (see recipes section of Exodus).

too true, i rubbed some on the chicken i just made prior to the honey dijon sauce. then i sprinkled it liberally once the bird came out of the sauce.

tasty bird.

use a heavy pan, heat up some unflavoured oil like canola. put in the salmon when its quite hot. lift it a bit so the oil gets underneath. let it cook through without flipping so it's pan seared on one side only. serve that side up.

Honestly I am more interested in the fish.

Abbott, Thursday, 11 October 2007 04:07 (seventeen years ago)

Me too. My guess is the frozen and unadorned fish meant that he delayed things with drinks, then more drinks, then the awful fish was forgotten. Clever, dude!

paulhw, Thursday, 11 October 2007 04:31 (seventeen years ago)

Poor fish. I'll always remember you.

Maybe he didn't thaw you
Quite as good as he should
Maybe didn't eat you
Quite as often as he could
Little fish he could've broiled or fried,
He he just didn't have the time
But you are always on my mind...
You were always on my mind...

we made the fish together using ingredients scrounged around, it was kind of fun! we made a meal out of it, and she brought wine and frozen edamame. we used some lemon dill sauce i had on the salmon, then made a topping out of onions, mushrooms, garlic and the aforementioned sauce. also cooked up some 'indian fare' yellow curry from trader joes, cooked some pasta in the leftover mushroom/lemon/dill/onion sauce, and voila
