my shiny metal powerbook purchased in 2003 had serious problems and no longer works.
my turquoise and white iBook from 1999 is under my desk, still runs just fine, and has had beverage spilled on it. I still use it to play with ReBirth once in a while.

Getting the right software for OS9 can be a pain but it's out there.
Depends on what you want to use it for.

Just typing and playing Sim City 2000/Lucasarts games basically! I'd use my desktop for heavy graphics stuff/musics/all the things it's used for now.

If it's 400MHz or faster, you can have OS X on it, which is infinitely better than OS 9. 800x600 screen, tho, which sucks.

(You can have OS X on less fast iBooks too, but I wouldn't recommend it.)

libcrypt, Friday, 2 November 2007 19:11 (seventeen years ago)

It already has OS9 on it, and I only have OSX Tigah on my desktop. I think it wld be nice to have bost. Srsly it'll be mainly for using TextEdit.

Abbott, Friday, 2 November 2007 19:15 (seventeen years ago)

you just like making it talk

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Friday, 2 November 2007 19:16 (seventeen years ago)

OMG I forgot all about that! That was all we did in 9th grade newspaper class, trash talk each other via Mc voice from TextEdit.

Abbott, Friday, 2 November 2007 19:18 (seventeen years ago)

I still kind of hate OS X vs. OS 9.
They're still on the fence between being a Good BSD and being Good Windows and aside from the name of the window manager app there's not much at all in common with the System Software I grew up to love.

El Tomboto, Friday, 2 November 2007 19:21 (seventeen years ago)

You hate the debate, or compared to )S9 you hate OSX? I hate pretty much all OS debates, it's like hearing people talk about their car engines or various brands of purse.

Abbott, Friday, 2 November 2007 19:24 (seventeen years ago)

O)))))))))))S9

Abbott, Friday, 2 November 2007 19:24 (seventeen years ago)

I still keep a laptop running OS9 around so that I can use SoundEdit16, that program rules. Sadly, now this laptop's hinges are both cracked and non-functional so in order to use it at all I have to prop up the screen, which is now attached via some ribbons/guts hanging out of the other half of the computer. It is very ghetto, but it works.

Drew Daniel, Friday, 2 November 2007 19:25 (seventeen years ago)

OMG I FORGOT ALL ABOUT SOUNDEDIT16 I LOVE IT TOO.

Abbott, Friday, 2 November 2007 19:26 (seventeen years ago)

Drew, it doesn't run in classic?

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Friday, 2 November 2007 19:39 (seventeen years ago)

No classic on Intel.
