Armstrong & Miller

I can't find a thread on this, or indeed any mention of it. Surely I'm not the only person who watches it? They had a series ages ago in 1999 featuring the maths teacher (see this and this ) which I thought was good. Then they seemed to disappear as a double act (but one of them did that vet comedy and then all the pimms adverts) and have suddenly re-emerged now on Friday nights. Two episodes in so far, and I'm thinking it's FUNNY. Anyone else?

Yeah, it is!

It's a close cousin to the "Fry and Laurie" prog of a few years ago. Which was also funny. But, so far, this is better.

four weeks pass...

I like the Geordie grafter who does actually have the solution to all the world's ills best, altho it's not really that lolzy. Fry & Laurie also sprang to mind for me.

blueski, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 16:29 (eighteen years ago)

I think it is funny too. I saw it by accident the other night and now I'm going to look out for it on purpose like.

KILL THEM.

Here I was thinking Lance and Sienna were a "gruesome twosome". Alas (?) no. :-)

caught a pretty funny clip recently, where a bloke is upstairs wanking with a water mellon. And his wife calls up the stairs "John F Kennedy has just been shot!"

might have to get hold of these.

shame about that stupid advert with the dj and adam ant song

This series was good, and quite edgy for a BBC 1 prime time thingie.

chap, Wednesday, 2 July 2008 13:36 (seventeen years ago)

thought the "teaching? we'll hire anyone" gag was a strangely targetted and out of place bit o' politics.

ledge, Wednesday, 2 July 2008 13:59 (seventeen years ago)

I don't think it was meant to be particularly political, just observant of the fact that loads of people drift into teaching for want of another plan.

I just remembered this series of sketches from an earlier series (for Channel 4, I think):

The 'teenage' RAF pilots sketches are genius.

Billy Dods, Wednesday, 2 July 2008 14:44 (seventeen years ago)

it was on bbc4 last night (and next 5 weeks). random.

"I hate them bitches. If it wasn't that I love pussy so much, I'd be gay"

In a very plum accent, overheard yesterday.

Is this from A&M, or was this for real, I ask myself (and youse)...?

First ep, new series. Some real chestnut sketches (dude on Arts show picks up priceless book, guess what happens next) and they seem to be victims of the new "don't say fuck or bugger" policy at the Beeb, but when they hit home they still make me laugh more than most anyone. (Also watching any sketch show with my boy makes it 20 times funnier as he = easily amused.)

Some local friends are addicted to these, which is how I heard about these two in the first place. Short thread, this.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 1 November 2012 21:45 (thirteen years ago)

can't deny, these guys can make me laugh.

does that help extend the thread.

mark e, Thursday, 1 November 2012 21:48 (thirteen years ago)

Ned, you should check out 'Pointless', especially as it features Richard Osman, Mat's brother. No A&M but for a game show, very funny and highly addictive.

Haha noted!

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 1 November 2012 22:11 (thirteen years ago)

Richard has an extremely dry sense of humour.

You might want to skip to about 0:55

otm, pointless is amazing

炒面kampf (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 1 November 2012 22:53 (thirteen years ago)

especially when compared to that 'game' show in which plebs do nothing but open briefcases for half an hour

炒面kampf (Autumn Almanac), Thursday, 1 November 2012 22:54 (thirteen years ago)

best show on telly.

^ this. I once "won" Richard's twitter quiz, except there were five winners, so he drew the names out of a hat, and I didn't win the prize, which was an actual Pointless trophy. I then got full marks on his next twitter quiz and didn't win again, but he did call me "quite the clever clogs", which made my parents more proud than any academic or work achievements I've ever managed.

Armstrong & Osman on Pointless make me laugh more than any comedy show.

ailsa, Friday, 2 November 2012 11:32 (thirteen years ago)

armstrong is totally the straight man isn't he? usually while osman is riffing off on some tangent he just sort of smiles and says "yeeerrrs" in that pleasant way of his. his lookalikes are usually totally offtm too, tho i did like the one this week who was the exact midpoint between george orwell and stan laurel.
