I went to an STD test a couple of weeks ago, I hadn't been to one in almost three years. The results came last week and they were negative, as I suspected. Still, for the few days before the results came I was mortified, almost sure that I must've caught HIV, even though rationally thinking I should've known the chances for that were relatively small. I was wondering, does this happen to everyone or is just me?
Also, I'm 28 now, so I promised myself from now on I'd try to live so that I wouldn't need to take the tests again in the near future. Hopefully I can keep that promise.

The test before the last one was a total nightmare, I made the mistake of using my student health organization's services. I went there with the girl I was dating then, and at first the nurse was like, "Well, why are you here then?". I was like, hello, we reserved an appointment for STD tests, you know why we are here. Then she gave both me and her this lecture about how we've behaved badly for having had unprotected sex, like we were fucking kids or something. Okay, we both know we'd done wrong, no need to moralize about that; you'd think they'd be happy that we actually came to take the tests, unlike some people do! So this time I decided to go the local public STD clinic, and they were really nice, no moralizing or anything.

Thankfully I'm not a shy person or anything, but I thought that nurse's behaviour was quite stupid: for many people, going to the test is quite shameful as it is, so do you really need to disencourage people for ever coming back there?
― Tuomas, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 12:56 (eighteen years ago)
Also next time the nurse gives you a lecture, tell her it's quite common to do this when you have a new relationship. I mean, shit, what if you didn't, then you'll worry and you know there's a risk. Once you're both clear, you can fuck away (with or without the presence of a baby in the room).

I guess so, though technically they don't have a sexually transmitted disease then, do they?
― Tuomas, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 13:03 (eighteen years ago)
also: clearly the nurse didn't lecture you enough 3 years ago, otherwise you wouldn't have had to go back with this fear that mortified you for a week.

virgins can catch AIDs that can then transmit sexually onto others, should someone pop them.

capital S
if you catch 2 x AIDS would that be AIDSes?
Haha, I guess your right, though it also proves the lecture didn't work.
― Tuomas, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 13:07 (eighteen years ago)
The last time I did this the nurse was brusque, businesslike but good humoured, just the job.

you'd think they'd be happy that we actually came to take the tests, you'd think they'd be happy that we actually came to take the tests, you'd think they'd be happy that we actually came to take the tests, you'd think they'd be happy that we actually came to take the tests, you'd think they'd be happy that we actually came to take the tests, you'd think they'd be happy that we actually came to take the tests, you'd think they'd be happy that we actually came to take the tests,

― ken c, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 13:35 (eighteen years ago)
You realise the only reason she works there is so she can give moralising lectures? Otherwise she'd be working at the other clinic, which probably pays better.
― Mark G, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 13:37 (eighteen years ago)
Enrique, do you realize there are a lot of people out there who never take the tests, even though they should?
― Tuomas, Tuesday, 6 November 2007 13:39 (eighteen years ago)
i wouldn't moralize about it.

Did the band get its name from a slang term, or was the slang term coined after the band?
