i think i am become a coffee purist lately?

i really only like medium full-bodied arabica roasts w./o flavor except for the occasional whisky or maybe a shot of irish cream. some days i'll add a little sweetener, or a little cream. but never both.

i used to think there was some cool cachet about asking for the dark roast, then i realized that dark roasts all taste the same because the flavors are pretty generically (post-maillard-reaction) browned or toasted, and a lot of the subtlety is scorched away.

i have tried all the alternative-to-sugar sweeteners and if you're gonna drink coffee you're gonna have to accept that real sugar is the only way - raw organic is good! (though maybe 'cane sugar' wld be better? i don't know, i figure it all comes from canes right and this is another marketing ploy)

If I sweeten my coffee I will use only the tiniest dabblydoo of brown sugar, otherwise it's blacker than midnight on a moonless night for me.
