world seems so much larger

deej, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 20:43 (eighteen years ago)

I never like churros!

Abbott, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 20:44 (eighteen years ago)

They could maybe save seating by making someone my size sit in the lap of a 400-lb person.

Abbott, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 20:45 (eighteen years ago)

Maybe they should change it to "It's a miniscule world" to better fit the problems of scale.

John Justen, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 20:45 (eighteen years ago)

or make the tubbies work as hippos on the jungle cruise

remy bean, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 20:46 (eighteen years ago)

and shot them with real guns

carne asada, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 20:47 (eighteen years ago)

Okay that's unfair. But if you had to sit on their lap, if you looked at all the attractions and dolls, you could imagine that you were sitting on a fun pile of rising dough that happened to have an internally regulated temperature.

Abbott, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 20:47 (eighteen years ago)

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha so mean but hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

It's like a perfect storm of ego and soul crushing.

HI DERE, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 20:48 (eighteen years ago)

Okay hilarious but 200 lbs is not crazy big. I mean, it's big-ish and I hope mostly applied to people over like I dunno, 5'4" or something, but it's not "OMG HAND SANK RIGHT IN, WHAR IS HAND??!?"

Laurel, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 20:49 (eighteen years ago)

again:

carne asada, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 20:53 (eighteen years ago)

chaki, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 20:54 (eighteen years ago)

There was a picture posted yesterday that I kind of want to caption with "WHAR IS HAND??!?" but I'd get banned.

HI DERE, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 20:54 (eighteen years ago)

I think that was on the edge of my brain when I imagined falling into fat person. I know, I know.

Laurel, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 20:55 (eighteen years ago)

did you hear what incited the shut-down?

the cubic displacement of water from a certain load of lardos overflooded the small, small dikes and flooded small, small holland drowning six hundred small small people, after all.

remy bean, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 20:56 (eighteen years ago)

It's a world of laughter (for Dan), a world of tears (for teh fattys).

xpost: I was thinking about captioning it "AMPUTEE MAGIC TRICK!!!!", but didn't.

Space Mountain - This is the one ride I have been asked to leave.

Pleasant Plains, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 20:58 (eighteen years ago)

It's a Small World/Peter Pan's Flight/Mr Toad's Wild Ride/Snow White's Scary Adventure/Pinocchio's Daring Journey - same as WDW. Ride sidesaddle and take up the whole seat in the dark rides.

Pleasant Plains, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 20:59 (eighteen years ago)

Not Enough Space Mountain

remy bean, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 20:59 (eighteen years ago)

Those chocolate-chip cookies flying overhead as asteroids really gets 'em stirred up.

Piles in the Caribbean?

remy bean, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 21:01 (eighteen years ago)

Do you ever see seats in the bus or other places that are two seats side by side, each curved downward, forming a little peak together between the two? And do you then imagine one epic ass cheek taking up each of these seats, and if the thing in the middle makes the person uncomfortable?

Maybe I am alone in this.

Abbott, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 21:01 (eighteen years ago)

This works well on the bottom too - because the log is raised in front you don't get as wet on landing. However it does mean that any water on the seat will run straight into your crotch - a really good look when you get off.

Abbott, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 21:03 (eighteen years ago)

Having 2 fat people on the ride guarantees a really fast drop and a HUGE splash but hopefully the one in front will get the wet bum.

Abbott, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 21:03 (eighteen years ago)

the new one will be replaced by gender-nullified dolls.

YES

s. morris, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 21:12 (eighteen years ago)

What if the thing in the middle made them more comfortable?

Pleasant Plains, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 21:18 (eighteen years ago)

Then they wd be Republican senators

Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 21:21 (eighteen years ago)

metro bus service, now with butt plugs

remy bean, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 21:26 (eighteen years ago)

this ride plays music, yes? the music is very annoying? during repairs, there will be no music?

gabbneb, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 21:27 (eighteen years ago)

Sleeping Beauty - Involves a lot of stairs inside the castle but the storybook dioramas are well done. The corridor is narrow so be prepared for anklebiters pushing past to get to the next picture. Try to lean on them every chance you get.

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Wednesday, 7 November 2007 21:42 (eighteen years ago)

anklebiters - snakes in the carousel horses.

two months pass...

More fun:

This holiday weekend marks your last chance to ride It’s a Small World at Disneyland before the beloved boat ride undergoes a major overhaul.

The classic attraction goes down for a 10-month rehab starting Jan. 22, 2008, to replace the original flume and fleet of boats used at the 1964-65 New York World’s Fair, where the ride debuted.

Disney Imagineers are still trying to decide what — if any — changes and additions to make to the characters and scenes in the 14-minute show. The new Small World ride at Hong Kong Disneyland adds 30 Disney characters to the attraction (including Mulan, Peter Pan and Aladdin).

The Anaheim ride’s long hibernation is scheduled to end Nov. 28, 2008, according to Disney officials.

The Mouse still insists the Small World overhaul has absolutely nothing to do with the ever-increasing waistlines of Americans.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 18 January 2008 20:27 (eighteen years ago)

Obv. the animatronic third-worlders should have their traditional garb replaced with oversized JORDACHE tees.

I thought this mightve been revived because of the monorail smash over the holiday weekend that killed someone. I only found out about that via a Livejournal community would you believe - it didnt make the media that I could see (unless it was on the TV news inpassing maybe)

seagulls are assholes (Trayce), Wednesday, 15 July 2009 23:08 (sixteen years ago)

I saw the news story about the crash (it was the morning of July 4 at about 2 am) - it was on cnn.com. I have no idea how the rest of the media may/may not have covered it. I did wonder if it would have been covered further if the person who died had been a Disney guest rather than (as I understand) the cast member who was driving the monorail train.

IS DISNEYWORLD SAFE FOR YOUR CHILDREN?

the kid is crying because did sharks died? (Hurting 2), Thursday, 16 July 2009 00:00 (sixteen years ago)

I'm a closet Disney World-phile, so I've followed this stuff. The Orlando Sentinel has been, naturally, the best source. OSHA is currently investigating; the EPCOT monorail line is shut down in the meantime.

Good point. I read about it on the customers suck community on LJ and the horrible story told was: after the monorail driver's death the rail was closed and they added buses and things.

Some asshole customer threw a hissyfit and said he'd come all this way to Disneyland and he WILL ride the monorail OR ELSE blah blah and when they explained why he could not he actually said "I don't care if someone died, I want on that monorail". To the monorail staff, who've just lost their colleage.

God awful waste of humanity.

seagulls are assholes (Trayce), Thursday, 16 July 2009 00:12 (sixteen years ago)

Damn, the driver was a 21 year old. Just a kid!

ugh, trayce, that's really a bummer. self-righteous, entitled cunts are the worst :\

ian, Thursday, 16 July 2009 04:40 (sixteen years ago)

I feel terrible for the cast member who died, as well as for all of his co-workers. Imagine having to be "happy" all day the day after that, with a huge crowd of people (some of whom are, as you point out, utter jerks), plus Florida heat and humidity. Ummmmm... no thanks.
