do we have to make our metathread metacomments in the style of the poster above?

pretty impressive that the posters involved have managed to keep it so jovial and not be dicks which is what I thought would've happened by now

I guess when having other people do impersonations of you it's also easier to let anything that might seem mean-spirited roll off your back. Plus impersonation doesn't come as cheap as a zing, it seems more affectionate

Also, you can't refute anything unless you do it in the style of the poster above you.

I was non-offended but disappointed at the poor quality of imitations of me. I mean, cut-and-paste, talk about phoning it in.

i posted three times and respect everyone i copied... in retrospect i should have stayed off because making someone try to emulate someone as non-present on these boards as me is pretty mean, and, in a way, thread-killing (although anyone who has paid attention would probably note my absurdly long sentences made worse only by the fact that they are not run-on sentences and filled with brackets, allowing a sort of sentence-within-sentence structure that successfully sticks it to periods everywhere).

also, i at least used the wikipedia entry for "fashion" so it was related to an interest of yours xp

I think we did this once before, but it's actually more interesting to see if people can match the tone of people's one-line jokes and offhand comments, compared to when people posted at length and everyone knew stuff about everyone.

I did it with BRACKETS. deej otm.

That's been the hardest part with that thread, dealing with the x-posts. It's like the horror that is improv.

I believe "Summarise Me" was the one I was looking for. Ah, the old days when we all tried to write long, clever, sophisticated posts. That thread worked better when you could see people's email addresses though. The impression of Tom E I mentioned:

Really it’s a way of understanding other people’s points of view better by understanding their language I suppose. Not that understanding DJ Martian’s language will help ;)
