Wiggle Car

you sat on it and propped your feet up on the middle of the handlebars which were connected to the front set of wheels. the handlebars went out a ways and came back a ways and then you moved them back and forth to propel the thing. they sold it on tv and the seats may have come in different colors but mostly they were red.

what was this thing called and where can i look at some pictures of it?

Shakey Mo Collier, Monday, 12 November 2007 21:03 (eighteen years ago)

This sounds insanely volatile.

Big Wheel had pedals on the front wheel

x-post

Shakey Mo Collier, Monday, 12 November 2007 21:04 (eighteen years ago)

nah it wasn't a big wheel, a big wheel is a plastic tricycle with one big front wheel that everyone had and everyone remembered the name of, unlike this specific toy that i have in mind

iiiijjjj, Monday, 12 November 2007 21:04 (eighteen years ago)

i know what you're talking about. it was just a bike seat with wheels

Mr. Que, Monday, 12 November 2007 21:05 (eighteen years ago)

i had one of these things! i don't know what the heck the name was

carne asada, Monday, 12 November 2007 21:05 (eighteen years ago)

yes! all it was was basically a bike seat on those thick rollerskate/skateboard wheels. with handlebars.

shakey it was not that green thing (although i do remember those things, i remember some kids that had them who used to beat each other up a lot in the yard)

iiiijjjj, Monday, 12 November 2007 21:06 (eighteen years ago)

the patented name may or may not have been alliterative

iiiijjjj, Monday, 12 November 2007 21:07 (eighteen years ago)

Are you talking about Sit n Spin?

Drew Daniel, Monday, 12 November 2007 21:09 (eighteen years ago)

I am imagining something seriously, terribly dangerous. Have you tried one of these? If so, how many times were you injured?

I remember these, never used one, but they used show up as the parting gifts on Nickelodeon game shows like Double Dare or Finders Keepers, IIRC.

elmo argonaut, Monday, 12 November 2007 21:11 (eighteen years ago)

that's it! xxpost

elmo argonaut, Monday, 12 November 2007 21:11 (eighteen years ago)

don't let your friend tie a rope to this thing and pull you on his bike with it!

carne asada, Monday, 12 November 2007 21:13 (eighteen years ago)

Face JERKY!

carne asada, Monday, 12 November 2007 21:13 (eighteen years ago)

anyway yeah they were dangerous. the first time i ever got stitches was when i was roller racing this thing down a very slightly graded hill and it hit a pebble and sent me flying chin-first into the asphalt and i ran home carrying the roller racer and crying the whole way

iiiijjjj, Monday, 12 November 2007 21:14 (eighteen years ago)

yeah wtf that thing does not look safe at all!!

Shakey Mo Collier, Monday, 12 November 2007 21:14 (eighteen years ago)

I have never seen that thing in my life. I would've assumed it was some sort of warehouse dolly.

Pleasant Plains, Monday, 12 November 2007 21:15 (eighteen years ago)

In a child's warehouse, obv.

GUYS I HAD A PARTY ON FRIDAY AND WE HAD THIS DISCUSSION. WE GAVE THE GUY WHO REMEMBERED THEY WERE CALLED ROLLER RACERS A MEDAL. THEN WE MADE UP A SONG CALLED "ROLLER RACER DUI MOTHERFUCKER".

nickalicious, Monday, 12 November 2007 22:58 (eighteen years ago)

Also we pooled our collective experiences to determine:

A) Roller Racers could under no circumstances go uphill
B) they only worked in the street and thus were the dumbest thing marketed to children

nickalicious, Monday, 12 November 2007 23:00 (eighteen years ago)

In fact re: A few of us had attempted many times in our youth to build up speed (hahahahaha) on them going into an incline just to show ourselves, hey, looky, but the only thing we ever got out of it was a lot of our flesh on the pavement.

nickalicious, Monday, 12 November 2007 23:04 (eighteen years ago)

Elbows up, side to side?
