Help me remember an 80s or early 90s children's TV show

There was a show that was on nickelodeon (maybe) in the late 80s that was either Muppet related or just had puppets.

The only thing I could remember was that it stared a white guy who in the beginning walked through the woods and climbed through a log to enter this world.

I vaguely remember that the puppets had their own little concert venue type lighting rig or something.

Any guesses?

Slightly off topic, but does anyone remember the eternal world of warefare presented in Michael Bentine's Potty Time?

Michael Bentine, i think i'm right in saying, started in the Goons era and he was doing that kinda thing even then, especially the voices.

ha, yes. wikipedia:

"During the 1960s, he had a television series It's a Square World. A prominent feature of the series was the imaginary flea circus where plays were enacted on tiny sets using nothing but special effects to show the movement of things too small to see and sounds with Bentine's commentary. The plays were anything but serious with one titled "The Beast of the Black Bog Tarn" which was set in a (miniature) haunted house."

but, yes, Potty Time i remember seeing, was 1973-80.
