Image Upload Widget.
(I think that's the right URL, but the site is down right now. Try this for now.)
It's totally the easiest way to make sure you don't have embarrassing "OMG HOTLINKING DISALLOWED!" errors on yr pix. Just click on the pic you find in GIS or whatever, press the dashboard key (F12, I think, by default), and drag onto the widget. It's uploaded and the url is copied into yr paste-buffer. (Uncheck the "crush URL" preference in the widget, tho.)
If you don't have a Mac, then I dunno what to say. You = loser.

Nice. Dig yr infomercial style endorsement, too.
"Tired of those embarassing 'OMG HOTLINKING DISALLOWED!' errors?" *B&W shot of straight-haired mid-30's blonde woman in front of goatse.jpg* "There's got to be a better way!"

It works.
does image shack host yr pictures forever? How do they make money?
And I think the "paste-buffer" is generally called the "clipboard" in mac terms.

I can't get this to work. I hardly ever use widgets so I don't know if I'm doing something basic wrong. I press F12, see the Image Uploader widget sitting there, but can't get it do do anything. I did "click" on the web image I want before doing all this, but am dubious this was doing anything. It doesn't let me drag anything onto the widget. All I could get the widget to do was spin round and give me the "crush url" "play sound" prefs.

Oh, I see. You have to press F12 while you're dragging the image with the mouse button down.

It's a shame it doesn't work with photobucket, I share dan's conecerns about how long they would stay up there. From the FAQ:
If you are registered, your files will be available forever. If you are not registered, any file that you upload will continue to be available if it is accessed by anyone at least once per year.

For PCs try RightLoad
http://www.rightload.org/
"RightLoad is a small program that allows you to quickly upload files directly from a Windows folder to your server. Instead of using a complicated FTP client just to upload a few pictures, you just right-click on the files, select the server and target folder and RightLoad will do the rest for you. When all files have been uploaded, RightLoad will automatically generate a list of different links to the files, ready to be copied into your post or website."

Of course you need web hosting with FTP access, but most broadband packages have that included.
