The beers everyone loves to hate. Saw the list on some beer info site, so it's not my fault if it's wrong.

I've been drinking Miller Lite lately, I need to give a better pilsner a try.

milo z, Monday, 19 November 2007 05:21 (eighteen years ago)

c'mon, no one buys natural light

mookieproof, Monday, 19 November 2007 05:21 (eighteen years ago)

Although, for acidic water, it's not as bad as it could be.

milo z, Monday, 19 November 2007 05:21 (eighteen years ago)

anyway:

mookieproof, Monday, 19 November 2007 05:22 (eighteen years ago)

that was re: Miller Lite

oh, contraire, I know a house full of dudes who drink nothing but Natty Light.

More surprised that Busch Light made the list - I haven't seen anyone drink a Busch-branded product the first Bush era.

milo z, Monday, 19 November 2007 05:23 (eighteen years ago)

in this sad company, budweiser truly is the king of beers

boh forever

pretzel walrus, Monday, 19 November 2007 05:44 (eighteen years ago)

Corona (and half the others on this list) outsells Miler Genuine Draft? I guess I'll have to go with the little German.

nickn, Monday, 19 November 2007 05:48 (eighteen years ago)

these beers suck, i'd only drink corona extra IRL, and then only a rare occasion, but i voted Miller High Life in honor of my dad who drank several thousand cases of the shit in his day

gershy, Monday, 19 November 2007 05:50 (eighteen years ago)

More surprised that Busch Light made the list - I haven't seen anyone drink a Busch-branded product the first Bush era.

The meathead dudes at the rather large university in my town seem to only drink Busch Light. It's not uncommon to go to the grocery store nearest campus on a Thursday or Friday and see a dozen grocery carts packed full of glorious Busch Light. My wife and I have actually adopted "Busch Light" as shorthand for everything related to getting undergrad-drunk in frathouses.

Out of all these beers, the only one I drink is Miller High Life, from cans, freezing cold, in the summer. It truly is the champagne of beers.

joygoat, Monday, 19 November 2007 06:41 (eighteen years ago)

Heineken i guess but man is this a bleak poll

jergïns, Monday, 19 November 2007 06:42 (eighteen years ago)

high life, dipshits!!

gff, Monday, 19 November 2007 06:43 (eighteen years ago)

the label pwns but the next day's headache does not

jergïns, Monday, 19 November 2007 06:46 (eighteen years ago)

joygoat otm. fratboys and after work tallboy drinkers support busch lite. will never die.

tehresa, Monday, 19 November 2007 06:49 (eighteen years ago)

Miller Lite, in the can, though I also like both Coors Light and Bud Light. But I like Miller best because you can drink more of it.

If Assholes Could Fly This Place Would Be An Airport, Monday, 19 November 2007 06:55 (eighteen years ago)

jergïns, Monday, 19 November 2007 06:56 (eighteen years ago)

High Life, because at least then a cute tomboyish girl might grab it playfully.

But yeah, jergins otm re: bleakness.

Heineken by far

deej, Monday, 19 November 2007 07:08 (eighteen years ago)

Heineken > Corona and Miller High Life > Everything Else

remy bean, Monday, 19 November 2007 08:05 (eighteen years ago)

high life, i guess, if there's no pbr available

kingfish, Monday, 19 November 2007 08:34 (eighteen years ago)

Of those, I'd take a Budweiser (or "Bad Wizard"), but I'd probably do a lot of grumbling.

Alex in NYC, Monday, 19 November 2007 13:01 (eighteen years ago)

Corona > Heineken > piss-water

The Reverend, Monday, 19 November 2007 13:11 (eighteen years ago)

I guess a Heineken beats a limeless Corona, but too late I already voted.

The Reverend, Monday, 19 November 2007 13:12 (eighteen years ago)

Heinie, I guess. This is kind of a 'reduced to a beer run at the closest gas station 2 minutes before midnight and they lock the cabinets' poll, right?

Oilyrags, Monday, 19 November 2007 14:23 (eighteen years ago)

I'm not sure I've seen michelob around for many years. Is it still available in Texas?

Oilyrags, Monday, 19 November 2007 14:24 (eighteen years ago)

I would take Bud over Heineken (or any of the other beers on this list) any day.

I DIED, Monday, 19 November 2007 14:25 (eighteen years ago)

a Corona with lime >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> anything else there. I like Michelob full flavor in the smokey bottle.

wanko ergo sum, Monday, 19 November 2007 14:26 (eighteen years ago)

Miller Lite: when it's really really cold on a hot Texas day it beats just about any beer.

Euler, Monday, 19 November 2007 14:33 (eighteen years ago)

"any beer" really?? i say to you sir that you should try more beers

Upt0eleven, Monday, 19 November 2007 14:39 (eighteen years ago)

although having said that i've never been to Texas so maybe it's a geographical anomaly

Upt0eleven, Monday, 19 November 2007 14:40 (eighteen years ago)

Corona (and half the others on this list) outsells Miler Genuine Draft? I guess I'll have to go with the little German.

So is Miller 'Genuine Draft" the same thing as "High Life"? We only have the former here in Canada so I'm not sure if it's a marketing thing. I don't think I've had a "High Life" Miller, but if that's the same thing as MGD, then that would be my pick from the American beers on that list..

Corona and Heineken (Dutch, not German), are far better of course.

Rob Bolton, Monday, 19 November 2007 14:49 (eighteen years ago)

champaign of beers all the way.

chicago kevin, Monday, 19 November 2007 14:54 (eighteen years ago)

I love Bud. A bar near me has it on tap at about 35 degrees out of frozen mugs, damn I love it.

Bill Magill, Monday, 19 November 2007 15:02 (eighteen years ago)

How do they decide whether to name it "Light" or "Lite"?

caek, Monday, 19 November 2007 15:03 (eighteen years ago)

coronas is good

jhøshea, Monday, 19 November 2007 15:04 (eighteen years ago)

bud light

carne asada, Monday, 19 November 2007 15:05 (eighteen years ago)

straight-up budweiser in a bottle, no contest.

all the light beers on this list completely suck, heineken isn't very good but i'll take it over most of the others on the list, and if it's offered, a corona with a lime on a hot summer day is decent enough.

c'mon, no one buys natural light

you gotta be joking.... everybody drank this in high school. then they graduated to bud light and miller lite in college.

Mark Clemente, Monday, 19 November 2007 15:12 (eighteen years ago)

*in my high school, at least.

Mark Clemente, Monday, 19 November 2007 15:12 (eighteen years ago)

OH HAI. I CAN HAS BUDWEISER? In bottles so cold there are baby icebergs in the neck, that's a little sip of heaven. But I'm going off beer for the winter, is the thing.

lol american beer

DG, Monday, 19 November 2007 15:42 (eighteen years ago)

You mean, High Life and orange juice. If so, let me be the first to say, GLAH!

it's surprisingly classy!

Jordan, Monday, 19 November 2007 15:45 (eighteen years ago)

yeah lol American beer but I was with some guys from Munich here in the states a few weeks ago and one guy just wanted some American beer. I said "you want a Samuel Adams?" (we were at a fancy restaurant with a long wine list but not much beer) and he said no, he just wanted a light American beer (not a light beer). He ended up getting a Pabst Genuine Draft, which is pretty weak stuff, but he loved it! So lol american beer but hey if it's good enough for a guy from Munich (in October, no less)...

Euler, Monday, 19 November 2007 15:46 (eighteen years ago)

yeah dudes, High Life all the way. But you do pay dearly the next day (well I do, anyway). Busch regular isn't bad, but not on the list.

will, Monday, 19 November 2007 15:48 (eighteen years ago)

well if a german does it it must be ok xpost

carne asada, Tuesday, 20 November 2007 20:00 (eighteen years ago)

I have also been doing the shot and a beer combo. Much lower incidence of hangover than, say, wine. Which I am currently regretting drinking so much of last night.

I could go for about two more hours of sleep, tbh.

B.L.A.M., Tuesday, 20 November 2007 20:09 (eighteen years ago)

A sweaty bottle of MHL in direct sunlight is honestly almost as aesthetically pleasing to look at for me as a glorious sunset.

nickalicious, Wednesday, 21 November 2007 02:16 (eighteen years ago)

I'm not sure I've seen michelob around for many years. Is it still available in Texas?

It's sold in Australia. I see it everywhere. It's cheap too, I've had it a few times.

TRUTH

My relationship to the High Life is like how some people relate to underperforming sports teams: it's basically my favorite beer, even though I know it's watery and not that great, I actually like fancy beers better, and will admit that Bud is actually the best in that list. But it's still the champagne of beers, and in the summer it's refreshing adult pop more than it is an "alcoholic beverage." Which is also why it's alarmingly easy to drink in quantity.

During the last years of college there were usually about 20-30 of these in the fridge at any given time, it seemed.

gbx, Wednesday, 21 November 2007 03:08 (eighteen years ago)

I will contentedly drink any of those beers if they are on special for ≤ $2USD except Heineken, which almost always tastes light-struck to me, even when it probably isn't. But I voted for the High Life because it reminds me of drinking in bars with grownups instead of shotgunning cans of beer in my living room.

Jenny, Wednesday, 21 November 2007 03:28 (eighteen years ago)

I do hate those stupid High Life commercials where the smug beer delivery guy goes into a decent liquor store and removes the MHL. They are branding High Life as a "lifestyle," which is just as affected and artificial as Mr. Smug Delivery Guy claims drinkers of fancy beers are.

Jenny, Wednesday, 21 November 2007 03:32 (eighteen years ago)

there is no fucking way anyone drinks natty lite on purpose.

tremendoid, Wednesday, 21 November 2007 03:54 (eighteen years ago)

i vote coors, politics notwithstanding, none of that pesky 'taste' to get in the way of your drunkening.

tremendoid, Wednesday, 21 November 2007 03:56 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Sunday, 25 November 2007 00:01 (eighteen years ago)

I bought a 12-pack of Tecate tonight. I probably buy that more than anything.

iiiijjjj, Sunday, 25 November 2007 00:02 (eighteen years ago)

yeah but from this list of 10 it's gotta be Budweiser and if you don't choose Budweiser then you're basically a fag woot

iiiijjjj, Sunday, 25 November 2007 00:05 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, obv there's no great answer here, but it's gotta be High Life.

Abbott, Sunday, 25 November 2007 00:39 (eighteen years ago)

i don't like bud anything, but it is better than corona. tecate is decent.

tremendoid, Sunday, 25 November 2007 01:09 (eighteen years ago)

ILX System, Monday, 26 November 2007 00:01 (eighteen years ago)

those are all horrid beers

Bo Jackson Overdrive, Monday, 26 November 2007 00:06 (eighteen years ago)

Coors 'Banquet' Beer (probably just a mid-90's marketing angle on Coors Original) I remember fondly.

1989, the number, another summer of the coors party ball

mookieproof, Monday, 26 November 2007 03:52 (eighteen years ago)
