in 5th grade we did "the muppet show" as our school spring concert. i was either statler or waldorf, not sure which. my friend bob was the other. we had to wear skull caps and old-man makeup. i think we had some good lines, but i don't remember.

Rowlf is actually, I think, the first muppet ever made...maybe the second after kermit. he predates the muppet show and sesame street by some years; I think he was used to hawk coffee or something in the 60's

also, kind of not fair not including sesame street characters since yeah, cookie monster, grover, and bert are all up there IMO. but at least this disqualifies elmo, zoe, abbycadabby, and all the other screetchy annoying new ones (can you tell I have a kid?)

jesus abbycadabby makes me want to burn a pile of tote bags. elmo i've sort of resigned myself to; not happily, just a truce. although my kid, to his credit and my pride, is a straight-up cookie monster devotee.
