Trivia:
Uncle Jesse, Danny and Joey have all been in prison at one point during the show. Also D.J. has come close until Jesse helped her out.

Yeah, that second video is AWESOME! It's too bad I hotlinked all of those awesome images up above. I thought it was cool at the time...

Z S on the internet (Z S), Monday, 17 November 2008 22:05 (seventeen years ago)

Ahahaha, I have no sound here but that second video DJ lip syncs exactly what's to be expected: Shut up Joey (?) YOUR NOT MY FATHER!

Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 17 November 2008 22:45 (seventeen years ago)

oh man, it's all about the sound in that clip. It gets pretty intense near the end. Then the rug flies out from underneath, and you remember where it all begin. 10/10

Z S on the internet (Z S), Monday, 17 November 2008 22:47 (seventeen years ago)

Believe me, I'll want to hear this when I get home! Can't help but thinking of you making a brilliant animated gif, looping those first seconds, saying UNCLE JOEY! UNCLE JOEY! NOT THE FATHER! NOT THE FATHER!

elocution was never the youngest lady actresses' strong suit on Full House, so it figures this would happen.

So. There are people who are actually hyped for Fuller House? Seems like kids who didn't grow up with that shit in first run now remember it fondly.

Candace Cameron's D.J. is a newly widowed mother of a 13-year-old son (Michael Campion's Jackson), a 7-year-old son (Elias Harger's Max) and a baby (Dashiell and Fox Messitt as Tommy). Worried about how to cope, she enlists the help of prodigal sister Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and best bud Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber), a nearly divorced mother of a 13-year-old girl (Soni Nicole Bringas' Ramona).

getting a strong The Shining vibe from this, with DJ as the new caretaker.

I've never seen an episode of the original Full House (they never showed it in Finland), but I've watched a few episodes of Fuller House, and even though it's not objectively good in any way, there's something oddly endearing about it... The humor is as safe as it gets, the gags are corny, the character ticks are repeated again and again (I'm only at episode 3, and this is already evident), the kids talk like little adults, there are unnatural pauses in the dialogue anytime anyone cracks a joke, so the audience laughter won't drown the next line, etc. The only thing that implied this show was made in the 2010s were a couple boob jokes in the first ep.

Everything about the show is such a throwback to the sitcoms of the 80s/early 90s that it feels almost like a safety blanket to someone in their 30s like me. I guess that's exactly what they're trying to do? Or are there still new American sitcoms like this being made, and I've just managed to ignore them and only catch the "edgier" ones?

Tuomas, Monday, 7 March 2016 08:49 (nine years ago)

Watched the first ten minutes. Got a very unsettling vibe, because of all the looking at the camera, unnatural pauses, etc that you mentioned, Tuomas. Also something about the way it is filmed is different than most laugh-track sitcoms, but I'm not knowledged enough to describe what. They didn't really recapture the vibe, this is... something else. Best way I can describe it is it felt like a Tim and Eric sketch. Maybe it becomes more normal after the first ten minutes

Vinnie, Monday, 7 March 2016 09:18 (nine years ago)

The first ten minutes were clearly stuffed with self-referential gags about the old series, even someone like who's never watched it got that, and fourth-wall breaking "staring at the camera" gag seemed to be part of that... Apparently they were jokingly addressing the fact that one of the kids from the original series was missing from the episode, because the actress didn't want to return. The next two episodes have a couple more meta jokes like that, but mostly they settle into a more "normal" sitcom groove.

Jesse and his humongous acapella group are performing in the living room. They have a little choreography that consists of walking in a circle. When they finally stop singing, everyone flips out. Jesse tells the group he'll see them later at dress rehearsal and they take 30 seconds to leave as they have to sing their way out.
