Clay, Monday, 26 November 2007 00:18 (eighteen years ago)

There are still a few lines left in that chapter that J0hn hasn't quoted from!

Casuistry, Monday, 26 November 2007 00:56 (eighteen years ago)

I don't know max

I mean I know how that's been used, and I maybe know what Paul was driving at, but there are a number of other ways you could go with it, and some of them are pretty great

That totally goes against Mromrn theology wherein the body is the most sacred thing you have been given & in the resurrection everyone will be reunited with their "perfected" physical bodies & joy joy bcz they've just been souls up in hevvin and now oh man soul+body union forever.

Sorry I am always mentioning Mormo shit, it is not at all my Beliefs, BUT srsly it is always the first reflex thought that arises before anything else. Like if you've been fed and fed while corked up for 20 years it will take a long time for you to get all its shit out of yr system.

Abbott, Monday, 26 November 2007 05:14 (eighteen years ago)

The Bad Samaritan

So we got these cheesy cards at one of the bars I regularly DJ at with invitations to the bar's christmas party, and mine had had this inscribed which I would classify as search:

<i>"Wishing you ... a dream to bless, a star to guide and peace and harmony inside!" 1 Corinthians 16:23</i>

But checking my NSRV translation, 1 Corinthians 16:23 is the second to last verse of the whole book: <i>(23)The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you. (24)My love be with all of you in Christ Jesus.</i>

So I'm thinking that's a really interesting translation, is my point.

oh, bbcodepaws..

Clay, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 02:03 (eighteen years ago)

Hm, so far googling is unpromising...

Casuistry, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 03:10 (eighteen years ago)

The stuff about women was probably interpolated by a later author.

Anyway, search: the social message of the book. I love how egalitarian it all is.

Nathan, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 04:58 (eighteen years ago)

Incidentally, J0hn, I've always really loved that part of "Love, Love, Love."

Nathan, Tuesday, 4 December 2007 05:03 (eighteen years ago)

seven years pass...

There's a dude on my bus this morning with long hair and a beard, wearing a confederate overcoat, and reading Second Corinthians. Any highlights from that one?
