Bi = 2, Semi = one-half. Biannual is every two years, semiannual is twice a year.

websters takes into account common usage, not only proper usage, right?

I unpack this using my fifth grader comics vocabulary: a bimonthly title came out every two months (6 issues a year). But I guess lots of people don't give a shit about persistent logic from comic book release schedule terminology to like the olympic games or whatever. Fuck 'em
