i remember starting out with Prodigy as a kid. instead of prompting you to choose between the honorifics of either Mr. or Ms. or Mrs., you got a three character space to enter that in. so i chose "Sir". then i started getting junk mail addressed that way.

― Tracer Hand, Friday, 30 November 2007 00:31 (eighteen years ago)
grimly, for my mom, it's STILL all about pine.
she has no idea how to make a shortcut or mount a drive but she scoots around pine like mario andretti.

The Lamahs-Guide to Pirating Software on the Internet ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Disclaimer:
You have the right to remain... d0h fuck that shit I hate legalities. talk to my lawyer about that. I am not here to tell you what to do and not do. Drugs should be legalized.. I don't agree that piracy should be legalized. It is illegal. Some people just like to steal, rip, cheat, etc, and some people can't afford to better their pc-experience without pirating. Its your moral choice to do what you want. I couldnt give a fuck. What I am against, is use of pirated software in business. Business's can afford to buy their software. I sell software (to businesses) and I would be pissed if everyone ripped my software. So like buy shit you really like. 99% of the warez coming out suck. The first game i've bought in 10 years was Wing Commander III. Its pretty kewl and impossible to copy so I bought it. Havent really played it much yet, but it looks cool.
Contents: This file is a beginners' primer on leeching pirated software off the internet.

Haha PINE, I loved that. And TIN for newsreading, and Lynx for web.
― Trayce, Friday, 30 November 2007 01:01 (eighteen years ago)
Tin! I'd forgotten that one.
― snoball, Friday, 30 November 2007 01:02 (eighteen years ago)
In the 0xf0rd physics department it remains all about Pine. People think I'm some kind of time-traveller from the future when I tell them about mutt.
― caek, Friday, 30 November 2007 01:15 (eighteen years ago)
I still love Pine and miss it greatly. Stupid Outlook, I hate you so much.
― joygoat, Friday, 30 November 2007 02:00 (eighteen years ago)
I think some of the diehard sysadmins at my old work insist on using Mutt, even now.
― Trayce, Friday, 30 November 2007 02:02 (eighteen years ago)
I use pine and I thought everybody did, what are you people on about?
I have stopped using lynx, though. I used to be that guy who fumed when web pages weren't lynx-friendly.

Also... http://textfiles.com/
― Elvis Telecom, Friday, 30 November 2007 02:33 (eighteen years ago)
I do most of my browsing in lynx, though I had to modify it to use my download manager...
Still using my own mail reader.
I used to use my own shell, but eventually switched to bash with my modifications, then finally stock bash. Switching from text terminals to an x-terminal for my home system made my modifications unnecessary. (It was all about job handling - "show jobs" and job notification was shared across multiple shells for a given UID. Working from text terminals, it was killer.) There are still a few features from my shell that I miss...
― shieldforyoureyes, Friday, 30 November 2007 05:01 (eighteen years ago)
I insist on using mutt, and I mock Pine users and Outlook/Apple Mail users both.
