good going with splitting the pepperoni vote

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:20 (eighteen years ago)

I'll eat pepperoni with a knife

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:21 (eighteen years ago)

I always thought it was like the topping where the original pizza maker would give his girlfriend & buddies the good topping and when he wanted to indicate that a customer was garbage he would give them pepperoni.

Abbott, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:21 (eighteen years ago)

I see we disagree .

Abbott, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:21 (eighteen years ago)

what

bell_labs, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:21 (eighteen years ago)

If I have to vote for just one it's always going to be pepperoni.

Noodle Vague, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:21 (eighteen years ago)

Mushrooms all the way.

G00blar, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:22 (eighteen years ago)

2 pepperonis 1 pizza

Mr. Que, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:22 (eighteen years ago)

I ate mushrooms on pizza long before I could tolerate them in any other food setting.

G00blar, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:22 (eighteen years ago)

mushrooms are pretty much always my second topping, but we only get one, apparently

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:22 (eighteen years ago)

i am having bacon pizza for lunch today

carne asada, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:23 (eighteen years ago)

I guess I could log in as mod and vote again

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:23 (eighteen years ago)

pepperoni OBV

Surmounter, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:24 (eighteen years ago)

Mushrooms second. I love blue cheese on faux-posh pizzas but it doesn't count here.

Noodle Vague, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:24 (eighteen years ago)

No only one topping bcz you are poor in this thread and there aren't any awesome specials besides "XL one topping $5.99."

Abbott, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:24 (eighteen years ago)

chicken

Just got offed, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:24 (eighteen years ago)

Anchovies.

Mark C, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:25 (eighteen years ago)

dear christ louis

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:25 (eighteen years ago)

I think pineapple was a godly and creative addition to the world of pizza.

Barbecue sauce instead of tomato sauce on a pizza: c/d?

Abbott, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:25 (eighteen years ago)

Mushrooms are usually my first choice, but it's usually so unreliable bcz you never know when it's going to be that canned rubber shit, so pineapple all the way.

en i see kay, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:26 (eighteen years ago)

usually usually usually

en i see kay, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:27 (eighteen years ago)

pineapple need to be accompanied by ham though

carne asada, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:27 (eighteen years ago)

oh man singular 'olives' entry occludes some seriously vicious green v black argumentation

gff, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:27 (eighteen years ago)

pineapple + pepperoni

Mr. Que, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:27 (eighteen years ago)

Jalapeños have a lot going for them too.

yeah pineapple is two thumbs up. I wd like to experiment with banana as a pizza topping.

Noodle Vague, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:27 (eighteen years ago)

only if the chicken is good quality, juicy and well-roasted, mind. as it is at zero degrees, the mythical pizza place that matt dc and i frequent.

G00blar, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:28 (eighteen years ago)

Chicken pizza can get fucked.

G00blar, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:28 (eighteen years ago)

guys I only had my tea an hour ago and now I'm hungry again :(

Noodle Vague, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:28 (eighteen years ago)

you british people have fucked up ideas about pizza

Mr. Que, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:28 (eighteen years ago)

Hey, I bet they don't do Gyro Meat on pizzas in the US, eh?

Noodle Vague, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:29 (eighteen years ago)

I respectfully disagree in re: pineapple. Even before I stopped eating meat, I preferred the humble fruit unsullied by any extra saltiness.

en i see kay, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:29 (eighteen years ago)

I once had a bbq chicken pizza that was pretty good, once. all other experiences since then (over a decade ago) with those ingredients have been total ass.

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:29 (eighteen years ago)

uh, i'm pretty sure bbq chicken pizza originated in TEH STATES. xxxpost

G00blar, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:29 (eighteen years ago)

Hey, I bet they don't do Gyro Meat on pizzas in the US, eh?

and we don't do corn on our pizza like the germans do, either

Mr. Que, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:30 (eighteen years ago)

hey chicken pizza is all right. i'm sort of anti-pepperoni tbh

gff, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:30 (eighteen years ago)

when done right the bbq chicken pizza can be great. but they don't hit the mark too often

carne asada, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:30 (eighteen years ago)

hey i got an idea burrito pizza

Mr. Que, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:31 (eighteen years ago)

that shit also sucks

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:31 (eighteen years ago)

Chicken pizza is an abomination in mine eyes (and mouth).

PEPPERONI FTW

HI DERE, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:31 (eighteen years ago)

We smother our pizza crust in buttery-garlic baby red mashed potatoes and top it with broccoli, fresh-diced tomatoes, cheddar cheese and a sprinkle of smoked apple hickory bacon - served with a side of sour cream.

gff, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:31 (eighteen years ago)

^^ pwns

gff, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:31 (eighteen years ago)

well the real answer to this question is 'garlic sauce'. or maybe 'lots of rocket, mozzarella and pesto'. i'm a sucker for bufalita. i appreciate that chicken can be fucked up but when done with good-quality breast meat, good cheese and good garlic sauce it is magisterial.

Just got offed, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:31 (eighteen years ago)

Tandoori Chicken is another traditional Britishes pizza topping.

Noodle Vague, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:32 (eighteen years ago)

We smother our pizza crust in buttery-garlic baby red mashed potatoes and top it with broccoli, fresh-diced tomatoes, cheddar cheese and a sprinkle of smoked apple hickory bacon - served with a side of sour cream

why not just stab yrself in the heart

Mr. Que, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:32 (eighteen years ago)

'lots of rocket, mozzarella and pesto'

what is rocket??????????

Mr. Que, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:32 (eighteen years ago)

hey i got an idea burrito pizza

"idea burrito" vs "mind grapes"

G00blar, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:33 (eighteen years ago)

arugula

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:33 (eighteen years ago)

broccoli has antioxidants

gff, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 20:33 (eighteen years ago)

if not eating on a bagel, smoked salmon and cream cheese are much better in an omelet.

tehresa, Friday, 7 December 2007 04:28 (eighteen years ago)

and don't forget the fucking capers!

tehresa, Friday, 7 December 2007 04:28 (eighteen years ago)

Smoked salmon/cream cheese on pizza pretty common here

not helping your case here

Jordan, Friday, 7 December 2007 04:33 (eighteen years ago)

Olives and mushrooms is cage-match.

Ivan, Friday, 7 December 2007 04:39 (eighteen years ago)

ahaha i was just about to write

ANOTHER PIZZA!

and then searched for it and that's what louis said he wouldn't eat on a pizza! i don't even get that! it is two pizzas! eat them!

rrrobyn, Friday, 7 December 2007 05:06 (eighteen years ago)

oh he then says he was being rhetorical

i forget how to read

rrrobyn, Friday, 7 December 2007 05:13 (eighteen years ago)

rrrobyn, Friday, 7 December 2007 05:14 (eighteen years ago)

rrrobyn, i love you. please to come to ny.

tehresa, Friday, 7 December 2007 05:15 (eighteen years ago)

aw :)
i want to come to ny v v much before christmas but don't have the time etc :( i should know more people with private jets and time machines really

rrrobyn, Friday, 7 December 2007 05:24 (eighteen years ago)

i know. i wish time machines could save me from finals time awfuleness and let me just enjoy that we finally have winter and holidays, etc.

tehresa, Friday, 7 December 2007 05:27 (eighteen years ago)

if the time machines were also pizza machines they could probably save us all from everything!

rrrobyn, Friday, 7 December 2007 05:29 (eighteen years ago)

mos def

tehresa, Friday, 7 December 2007 05:31 (eighteen years ago)

Christ what did I start! Hahaha. Dont forget salmon/cream cheese on a pizza is NOT going to also have tomato and mozza and herbs on it, for the love of hamurabi.

Trayce, Friday, 7 December 2007 05:33 (eighteen years ago)

it will also not be a pizza

John Justen, Friday, 7 December 2007 06:17 (eighteen years ago)

yeah that'd be a "miami burger" with a cheap-ass excuse for a toasted bagel underneath

El Tomboto, Friday, 7 December 2007 06:20 (eighteen years ago)

I think it's hilarious that Louis can't even post about pizza without the thread being completely derailed.

That said, to all of you listing the various affronts to the idea of pizza that you've witnessed, I've seen pizza with tentacles on it so I win.

Poop on a baguette

Dom Passantino, Friday, 7 December 2007 09:54 (eighteen years ago)

Do you guys like "upside-down pizza"? As in, tomato sauce on top of the cheese?

isn't this 'chicago style', like at Pizza Uno and other places? love it, but so very stodgy. seriously, if i lived in chicago, like i wanted to circa 1999, i would be dead or 25 stone by now.

stevie, Friday, 7 December 2007 11:56 (eighteen years ago)

BAGEL BITE completes the analogy

nickalicious, Friday, 7 December 2007 17:13 (eighteen years ago)

totino's pizza rolls, obv.

tehresa, Friday, 7 December 2007 17:35 (eighteen years ago)

No, actually the upside-down variety that I'm thinking of is more New York-style, but simply with the cheese and sauce reversed, as it were.

But yeah, I've hardly spent any time at all in Chicago, but when I was there the food made a huge impression on me.

dell, Friday, 7 December 2007 19:27 (eighteen years ago)

The Jemaine pizza is so adorable. So was his camera phone.

Abbott, Friday, 7 December 2007 19:29 (eighteen years ago)

Bagel Bite is a great answer! So is Totino's Pizza Rolls, but, then again, they are more like a shrunken version of Hot Pockets, no? I've never had any Pizza Rolls, but for some reason I assume that they are less gross than Hot Pockets.

dell, Friday, 7 December 2007 19:34 (eighteen years ago)

Favorite pizza toppings of the past:

Pepperoni, Mushroom, Sausage (when I waitressed this was notated as "PMS" pizza)

Taco pizzas - YES, especially if you can also add hot sauce on top of everything else

vegetarian favorite: tomatoes, mushrooms, black olive, green pepper, extra cheese

latest favorites: sausage and jalapeno

Most hated pizza toppings: onions, sauerkraut, shrimp

Sara R-C, Friday, 7 December 2007 19:48 (eighteen years ago)

I never heard of sauerkraut on pizza until I read this thread. Is that a midwest thing?

dell, Friday, 7 December 2007 19:51 (eighteen years ago)

NO

Jordan, Friday, 7 December 2007 20:00 (eighteen years ago)

I don't know what it is or where it comes from, but it is JUST WRONG

Sara R-C, Friday, 7 December 2007 20:06 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Sunday, 9 December 2007 00:01 (eighteen years ago)

I voted for sausage, but I should clarify: it it has to be sliced Italian sausage, not the rubbery hamburgery kind they probably use at Papa John's.

Pillbox, Sunday, 9 December 2007 02:36 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, I'm still slightly confused; are we supposed to be voting for our favorite pizza topping period, or are we supposed to be imagining that it's a Papa John's situation, and then voting accordingly?

dell, Sunday, 9 December 2007 02:40 (eighteen years ago)

I think a good matter of course is to vote within the Papa John's spectrum, without limiting your personal taste(s) to how Papa John's specifically offers / prepares said topping. That said, there are many missing options here.

Pillbox, Sunday, 9 December 2007 02:48 (eighteen years ago)

Gotcha. Re-reading it, I think that, yeah, that is in fact the original premise of the poll.

dell, Sunday, 9 December 2007 03:15 (eighteen years ago)

The "Hello my future girlfriend..." guy's favorite pizza toppings are pepperoni, black olives, and mushrooms. Just thought everyone might like to know.

I'm shocked that anchovies scored so high, but maybe there were some fish-lobbyists stacking the votes

dell, Monday, 10 December 2007 00:02 (eighteen years ago)

i voted chovies.

W4LTER, Monday, 10 December 2007 00:03 (eighteen years ago)

I'm shocked that pineapples scored so high, but maybe there were some late-night tv talk show jokewriters circa Noriega's downfall stacking the votes.

dell, Monday, 10 December 2007 00:05 (eighteen years ago)

pepperoni + green pepper pizza was so good last night.

J0rdan S., Monday, 10 December 2007 00:06 (eighteen years ago)

I've never even tasted anchovies, so my opinion on the matter is worthless.

dell, Monday, 10 December 2007 00:06 (eighteen years ago)

i was at someone's house tonight and had some bratwurst pizza (w/onions, mushrooms i think, some other stuff), not too bad.

Jordan, Monday, 10 December 2007 02:48 (eighteen years ago)

top 4 are not for me, with anchovies & pineapple being dealbreakers

fav topping is mushrooms + onions

gershy, Monday, 10 December 2007 02:58 (eighteen years ago)

yeah onions should ahve been on here.

J0rdan S., Monday, 10 December 2007 03:04 (eighteen years ago)
