I always thought it was like the topping where the original pizza maker would give his girlfriend & buddies the good topping and when he wanted to indicate that a customer was garbage he would give them pepperoni.

I respectfully disagree in re: pineapple. Even before I stopped eating meat, I preferred the humble fruit unsullied by any extra saltiness.

I once had a bbq chicken pizza that was pretty good, once. all other experiences since then (over a decade ago) with those ingredients have been total ass.

well the real answer to this question is 'garlic sauce'. or maybe 'lots of rocket, mozzarella and pesto'. i'm a sucker for bufalita. i appreciate that chicken can be fucked up but when done with good-quality breast meat, good cheese and good garlic sauce it is magisterial.

No, actually the upside-down variety that I'm thinking of is more New York-style, but simply with the cheese and sauce reversed, as it were.

But yeah, I've hardly spent any time at all in Chicago, but when I was there the food made a huge impression on me.

Bagel Bite is a great answer! So is Totino's Pizza Rolls, but, then again, they are more like a shrunken version of Hot Pockets, no? I've never had any Pizza Rolls, but for some reason I assume that they are less gross than Hot Pockets.

Yeah, I'm still slightly confused; are we supposed to be voting for our favorite pizza topping period, or are we supposed to be imagining that it's a Papa John's situation, and then voting accordingly?

I think a good matter of course is to vote within the Papa John's spectrum, without limiting your personal taste(s) to how Papa John's specifically offers / prepares said topping. That said, there are many missing options here.

i was at someone's house tonight and had some bratwurst pizza (w/onions, mushrooms i think, some other stuff), not too bad.
